Planet Connections Theatre Festivity will present Naked Brazilian, written and performed by Gustavo Pace, as part of the 4th Annual Planet Connections Theatre Festivity. The Festivity will take place May 30th through June 24th at Culture Project, 45 Bleeker Street in New York City. Ticket $18. Naked Brazilian is playing at Culture Project (Downstairs) in a limited run: Tuesday, June 5th @ 6pm; Friday, June 8th @ 8:30pm; Sunday, June 10th @ 4pm; and Sunday, June 17th @ 3pm, 2012. (more...)

Sondheim Unplugged, an acoustic evening of Sondheim tunes (featuring one song from every one of his major projects) played at Caffeinated Cabaret in Downtown Riverside on Sunday night, May 20th. Producer Jordan Roth announced today that the Pulitzer Prize-winning and Tony Award-nominated “Best Play” Clybourne Park, now playing at the Walter Kerr Theatre, has added another 4 weeks to the previously announced 16-week engagement. The New Victory Theater will launch its 2012-13 season with the U.S. premiere of URBAN by Circolombia, an edgy, thrilling and inspiring circus featuring young Colombian performers who share their real-life stories through acrobatics, aerial work and tremendous feats of strength. The world premiere of the musical “Los Otros” begins previews on Wednesday, May 23 at 8 p.m. at the Center Theatre Group/Mark Taper Forum. With book and lyrics by Ellen Fitzhugh and music by Michael John LaChiusa, “Los Otros” opens on June 3, 2012. Performances continue through July 1. Producers Michael Cohl and Jeremiah J. Harris announced today that Katrina Lenk will be joining the cast of Broadway’s SPIDER-MAN Turn Off The Dark, in the role of “Arachne”. Christina Sajous, who currently plays the role of “Arachne”, will play her final performance on Sunday, May 27thwith Lenk assuming the role on Tuesday, May 29th. Reeve Carney, Patrick Page, and Rebecca Faulkenberry will continue on in their roles as “Peter Parker/Spider-Man”, “Norman Osborn/Green Goblin”, and “Mary Jane Watson” respectively. (more...)

Shakespeare Orange County has announced their 21st season: Richard III, Venus and Adonis and Much Ado About Nothing. Richard III will feature John Walcutt in the title role with Carl Reggiardo directing the production. According to Producing Artistic Director, Thomas F. Bradac, “2012 promises to be the most ambitious season in our twenty one year old history.” Bradac will direct both Venus and Adonis and Much Ado About Nothing. The award winning company performs in the 550-seat Festival Amphitheatre in Garden Grove, CA. (more...)
