This summer Southern Rep launches its artistic residency at Le Chat Noir by satirizing eager theatre troupes, documentary plays, and zombie lore in one hilarious show. Zombie Town: A Documentary Play by Tim Bauer directed by Southern Rep Associate Artistic Director, Mark Routhier, marks the first Southern Rep@Le Chat Noir production. This mock-umentary play tells the story of a San Francisco theatre collective that travels to Harwood, Texas, the site of a disturbing and devastating zombie attack, to interview the surviving citizens. This is the true recounting of that terrible invasion compiled from those interviews.

Southern Rep, now in its 23rd season, welcomes Mark Routhier to the newly created staff position of Associate Artistic Director. In addition to significant new work development and dramaturgical support of SRT activities, Mark will manage the programming and oversight of Southern Rep's new Second Stage life at Le Chat Noir.

Berkeley's acclaimed Aurora Theatre Company has announced the four plays chosen as finalists by a committee of local directors for the Global Age Project (GAP), the company's new works initiative that promotes the creation of forward-looking theater: A Guide for the Perplexed by Joel Drake Johnson; The Serving Class by Garret Groenveld; Miss Lily Gets Boned by Bekah Brunstetter; and Collapse by Allison Moore.

Artistic Director Aimée Hayes has announced the seven productions that make up Southern Rep Theatre's provocative new 2009/2010 Season - a mix of bold story-telling and innovative musical works, and the return of Southern Rep's new play festival, reborn as the SOUTHERN REP NEW PLAY BACCHANAL. As the Gulf Coast South's premiere professional theatre, Southern Rep's 23rd season includes two world premieres and five regional premieres.
