Check out our first look at the Broadway-bound production of SOUSATZKA in rehearsals in Toronto! Based on the original novel Madame Sousatzka written by Bernice Rubens, SOUSATZKA is set in London, England in 1982 and tells the story of a musical prodigy torn between two powerful women from vastly different worlds: his mother, a political refugee from South Africa and his piano teacher, a brilliant eccentric with a shattered past. These two proud, iconoclastic women must ultimately cross cultural and racial divides to find common ground, or else jeopardize the young musician's destiny.

Many of Canada's top theatre talent will be hitting the stage at Lula Lounge this upcoming Monday, October 3rd.  Presented by ONE NIGHTSTAND RECORDS, and RUTHERFORD MANG INC., HERE'S TO LIFE - An Evening of Cabaret and Celebration is the inaugural concert in support of The Leanne Mang Foundation.

Huron Country Playhouse has a heart-warming home run hit with Damn Yankees, now on the main stage. This little-known Broadway musical dates back to 1955, and while you might not be familiar with the show, you will certainly recognize some of the tunes. Based on the Faustian legend about a German scholar who makes a pact with the Devil in exchange for great knowledge and wisdom, this show is reminiscent of the great Canadian curling play, The Black Bonspiel of Wullie MacCrimmon, written by W. O. Mitchell in 1951.

FRIGID New York presents A Ginger Galore Production: Confessions of a Redheaded Coffeeshop Girl, written & performed by Rebecca Perry. Michael Rubinstein directs, with Vera Watson serviing as stage manager, and Chil Palipane designing light and set.

Up until now, theatre audiences have been limited to see a maximum of two shows in a day (if you can make it out to the theatre on matinee day.) Under the direction of Vinetta Strombergs, the Toronto production of The Musical of Musicals, the Musical! has made it possible for you to see five musicals all in one night!

On Thursday, December 18 the Toronto Fringe Hit The Musical of Musicals, the Musical! will open at the Panasonic Theatre as part of Mirvish Production's 50th Anniversary Season. Hollywood Sings is a musical revue style production currently on stage at the Victoria People's Playhouse in Petrolia. First performed at Dodger Stages in New York in 2005, the show has had long, successful runs in New York City and all over the United States, as well as in Australia and the UK. Performed in Toronto by a cast of four of the city's best musical theatre performers, The Musical of Musicals (The Musical!) is directed by Vinetta Strombergs, with musical direction by Michael Mulrooney.

The 2013 Dora Awards took place in Toronto on Monday June 25th at The St Lawrence Centre for the Arts. To accommodate demand, the Bluma theatre was also opened up for guests and the awards were live-streamed via 'Doratron'. As in previous years, there was a glamorous VIP ceremony pre-show followed by a post show street party that closed down Front Street. It's Saturday, and that means its time for BroadwayWorld's 'Saturday Intermission Pics' round-up!

Following celebrated runs at the Toronto Stratford Shakespeare Festival, the La Jolla Playhouse in San Diego, and on Broadway at the Neil Simon Theatre, JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR takes its final Broadway bow tonight, July 1. Upon closing, the show will have played 116 regular performances and 24 preview performances. One of Andrew Lloyd Webber's most famous shows, the Stratford production undeniably had a great run and introduced some exciting new stars to the Great White Way, including Tony nominee Josh Young, Jesus himself Paul Nolan, and Chilina Kennedy. BROADWAY SESSIONS is described as an evening of musical performances, games and open mic featuring a new Broadway guest each week. The show is created and hosted by Ben Cameron (Bway Wicked, Aida and Footloose) and features musical director Joshua Stephen Kartes on piano.
