Rob McClure Joins Prospect Theater Company's Annual Gala Tonight

Prospect Theater Company presents its annual gala, 2013's Spring Soiree, in the Harbor View Room at Battery Gardens, a beautiful and unique waterside location nestled at the southernmost corner of Battery Park. This special one-night only event will be held on Monday, May 6 from 6pm - 10:30pm, with an 8pm concert performance, to feature performances by Broadway friends as well as Prospect stars! Guests will be treated to a sneak peek of songs from upcoming 2013 - 2014 Prospect productions, as well as encore performances from previous Prospect shows. The evening's line up of writers includes work by Sam Carner and Derek Gregor, Marisa Michelson and Joshua H. Cohen, Peter Mills, and Ryan Scott Oliver, among others. (more...)

Grammy, Emmy, and Tony Award winner Barry Manilow will headline a benefit event for the New York-based non-profit theatre company New York Theatre Barn called A Conversation with Barry Manilow: From Selling Jingles To Selling Out Broadway tonight, April 14, 2013 at 2pm in New York City. All proceeds will support New York Theatre Barn's groundbreaking platform for new musicals and their writers NYTB in the D-Lounge, and its other mission-driven programming and outreach. (more...)

Signature Theatre Announces Musical Voices Project: The Next Generation

Continuing in its ongoing efforts of supporting new musical theater works, Eric Schaeffer, Artistic Director of Signature Theatre, announced today that the Tony AwardŽ-winning theatre is commissioning two new musicals under Signature's American Musical Voices Project (AMVP): The Next Generation. Composers Joshua Rosenblum (Einstein's Dreams, Fermat's Last Tango) and Josh Schmidt (Adding Machine, A Minister's Wife) will be creating new musicals for future seasons at Signature. In December of 2011, Mr. Rosenblum and Mr. Schmidt were awarded "honoree grants" and shared selections from projects in development at a special performance held at Signature Theatre. (more...)
