Hart House Theatre, the University of Toronto's Performing Arts Leader Since 1919, is proud to announce its 2013/2014 season. With a diverse mix of classical and contemporary work, Hart House Theatre continues its tradition of producing affordable and accessible high-quality productions for downtown Toronto audiences. Playwrights' Workshop Montréal Presents 50 Years in the Making, 5/6

Playwrights' Workshop Montreal (PWM), Canada's oldest play development centre, will celebrate its 50th anniversary with 50 Years in the Making, a celebratory gala on Monday, May 6th at 7:00 p.m. at Centaur Theatre. Hosted by CBC's Ann-Marie Macdonald and PWM's Artistic Director, Emma Tibaldo, the event will offer a glimpse into the past five decades of Playwrights' Workshop Montreal and feature staged readings of excerpts from the extensive PWM repertoire. Nikolai Gogol's MARRIAGE Opens at Wayne State's Hilberry Theatre Tonight

Tonight, February 22, 2013, the comedy Marriage by Nikolai Gogol will open as the fifth production in the Hilberry Theatre's 50th season. This classic Russian tale of arranged marriages follows a young bachelor through the hesitation many men experience when confronted with the idea of serious commitment. Antics ensue when the young bachelor's best friend takes arranging the marriage into his own hands as the two compete with other eccentric bachelors for the bride's affection. (more...)

Leslie Lester Awarded TAPA's 2012 Leonard McHardy and John Harvey Award

The Leonard McHardy and John Harvey Award (LMJH Award) was inaugurated in 2008 and recognizes the important work of theatre, dance and opera administrators. Recipients of the LMJH Award have at least 10 years of demonstrated commitment to the performing arts, in addition to having made an impact on the industry in Toronto. The award is named after Leonard McHardy andJohn Harvey, the celebrated owners of Toronto's Theatrebooks, which they co-founded in 1975, and now stands as one of the longest surviving independent bookstores in the country.
