The Public Theater (Artistic Director Oskar Eustis; Executive Director Andrew D. Hamingson) announced today that the 2009 Shakespeare in the Park summer season will begin in June with a new production of William Shakespeare?s TWELFTH NIGHT directed by Daniel Sullivan and featuring Academy Award nominee Anne Hathaway as Viola. TWELFTH NIGHT will run June 9-July 12 at the Delacorte Theater in Central Park. In August, JoAnne Akalaitis will return to direct Euripides?s THE BACCHAE, translated by Nicholas Rudall, and featuring original music by Philip Glass. THE BACCHAE will run August 11-September 6.

General onsale begins Saturday, January 31 McTeer will be making her first Broadway appearance since her Tony Award-winning performance in A Doll's House in 1997. Walter, who won the 2005 Evening Standard Award for Best Actress for her performance, is returning to Broadway for the first time since the Royal Shakespeare Company's All's Well That Ends Well in 1983. The first Broadway production of MARY STUART in almost 40 years will be produced by Arielle Tepper Madover, Debra Black, David Binder, Scott M. The production, starring its acclaimed original London leads Janet McTeer and Harriet Walter and directed by Phyllida Lloyd, begins previews on March 30, 2009 for a limited run of 20 weeks only.

The Public Theater (Artistic Director Oskar Eustis; Executive Director Mara Manus) will begin previews for Richard Nelson's new history play Conversations in Tusculum on Tuesday, February 19. Directed by Nelson, Conversations in Tusculum will run through Sunday, March 23 with an official press opening on Tuesday, March 11 at 7 PM.

Aidan Quinn will complete the cast of Richard Nelson's new history play Conversations in Tusculum at the Public Theater. Directed by Nelson, Quinn will play Brutus alongside the previously announced Brian Dennehy as Cicero, Joe Grifasi as Syrus, Gloria Reuben as Porcia, David Strathairn as Cassius, and Maria Tucci as Servilia.

The Public Theater will open its spring season with the world premiere of Richard Nelson's new history play 'Conversations in Tusculum.' Directed by Nelson, the cast of six includes Brian Dennehy, Joe Grifasi, Gloria Reuben, David Strathairn and Maria Tucci. Affinity Company Theater in association with The Poetry Society of America will present two dramatic performances of the masterful poem, W. H. Auden's, For the Time Being: A Christmas Oratorio in honor of the poet's centenary on December 9 at 7:30PM.

Classic Stage Company will present Obie Award winner Michael Cumpsty in the title role in Shakespeare's Richard III beginning performances Thursday, November 1 at CSC (136 East 13th Street). The production kicks of CSC's 40th anniversary season. Co-directed by Kulick and Cumpsty, Richard III will play a limited engagement from Thursday, November 1 through Sunday, December 9.
