Boston Theater Critics Association Announces 2013 Elliot Norton Awards Nominations by BWW Special Coverage - Apr 10, 2013
The Boston Theater Critics Association has announced its nominations for the 31st Annual Elliot Norton Awards. The awards, which recognize excellence in Greater Boston theater, will be presented on Monday, May 13, at 7 p.m. at the Paramount Mainstage, 559 Washington Street, Boston. BWW Reviews: THE GIFT Makes American Premiere at the Geffen by Don Grigware - Feb 12, 2013
Many will be vehemently opposed to the theme of Joanna Murray-Smith's The Gift, for it concerns undoing primary parental obligation. It is forgivable when an artist sometimes allows his livelihood to take precedence over his parental duties, but to negate them is nothing short of immoral/criminal. Murray-Smith toys with where an artist's loyalties should lie in an unpredictable comedy/drama that will leave audience discussing the subject matter long after they leave the theatre. Isn't that what good theatre is meant to do? In its US premiere at the Geffen, The Gift cannot, should not be dismissed. (more...)

Michael Kahn, Artistic Director of the Shakespeare Theatre Company, which received the 2012 Regional Theatre Tony Award, announces the Company's 2013-2014 Season. The season will include the continuation of the Clarice Smith Repertory Series with Shakespeare's Henry IV, Parts 1 and 2. Joining Van Der Beek is Golden Globe and Emmy award winner Kathy Baker (Picket Fences, Edward Scissorshands, All the King's Men) as well as acclaimed stage and screen actors Chris Mulkey (First Blood, Southland, Twin Peaks) and Jaime Ray Newman (Eastwick, Catch Me If You Can).
