TUTS Announces 2012 Tommy Tune Awards Winners!

The 2012 Tommy Tune Awards winners have been announced! To a crowd of more than 2,500 people, Theatre Under The Stars (TUTS) declared the winners of TUTS tenth annual Tommy Tune Awardson the evening of Tuesday, April 17, at the Hobby Center for the Performing Arts. Adding extra excitement to the evening, the award ceremonys namesake and nine-time Tony Award winner Tommy Tune made a special appearance to kick off the show and to present the nights top honor.

Karen (Katharine McPhee) must decide between the workshop and a meeting with a big-time music producer. Full Cast Announced for Disney's ALADDIN in Seattle!

The 5th Avenue Theatre is thrilled to announce casting for the highly anticipated premiere of Disney's Aladdin, a new stage musical. The show will feature Adam Jacobs and Courtney Reed as Aladdin and Jasmine, James Monroe Iglehart as the Genie, and Seattle mainstay Seán G. Griffin as the Sultan. Jonathan Freeman takes the stage to embody the role he originally voiced for the film, the Royal Vizier Jafar. He is joined by comedic favorite Don Darryl Rivera as Iago. Aladdin restores a trio of characters originally conceived by the film's creators: Omar, Babkak, and Kassim, played by Andrew Keenan-Bolger, Brian Gonzales, and Brandon O'Neill, respectively. Broadway's Casey Nicholaw will direct. With book by Chad Beguelin and hit songs including "Friend Like Me," "Prince Ali," and the Oscar®-winning "A Whole New World" by Alan Menken, Howard Ashman and Tim Rice, Aladdin will enchant audiences of all ages.

Scaglione Departs WEST SIDE STORY 9/19; Sarah Amengual Takes Over 9/21

The producers of the revival of WEST SIDE STORY announced today that Broadway newcomer Sarah Amengual will be Broadway's "Maria" beginning Tuesday, September 21, 2010. 2009 Tony Award nominee Josefina Scaglione will play her final performance as "Maria" on Sunday, September 19, 2010. Ms. Amengual follows in this production's tradition of brining fresh new talent to the role of "Maria."

WEST SIDE STORY Wins GRAMMY for Best Show Album

The new Broadway cast album of 'West Side Story' has picked up the 2010 Grammy for Best Musical Show Album. The announcement was made during the Grammy Awards' pre-telecast ceremony held at the Los Angeles Convention Center on Sunday, January 31. The creative team behind the 'West Side Story' new Broadway cast album is Leonard Bernstein, composer; Stephen Sondheim, lyricist. David Caddick & David Lai produced the album which was released by Masterworks Broadway. ( more...)

After having understudied the role since performances began on Broadway on Monday, February 23, 2009 at Broadway's Palace Theatre (1564 Broadway), Mr. Hydzik will star as "Tony" opposite Tony Award nominee Josefina Scaglione. After having understudied the role since performances began on Broadway on Monday, February 23, 2009 at Broadway's Palace Theatre (1564 Broadway), Mr. Hydzik will star as "Tony" opposite Tony Award nominee Josefina Scaglione. Jeremy Jordan (Rock of Ages) will play the role of "Tony" on Wednesday evenings and Sunday matinees.

WEST SIDE STORY Announces Changes To The Spanish Integration In The Show

The smash hit revival of WEST SIDE STORY announced today that slight changes have been implemented into the current Broadway production at the Palace Theatre (1564 Broadway at 47th Street). "A Boy Like That" is now predominately sung in English to the original lyrics and selected dialogue and lyrics in "I Feel Pretty" have reverted to English.
