The esteemed off-Broadway company, which is wrapping up one of its most successful seasons ever, will kick off its 2013/2014 Season in September with the previously announced new production of Shakespeare's ROMEO & JULIET, featuring acclaimed rising film actress Elizabeth Olsen (Martha Marcy May Marlene) andFinn Wittrock, who won raves last season on Broadway in Death of a Salesman. Classic Stage Company, under the leadership of Artistic Director Brian Kulick and Executive Director Greg Reiner, presents Bertolt Brecht's THE CAUCASIAN CHALK CIRCLE featuring Christopher Lloyd (Azdak), directed by Brian Kulick (who directed Brecht's Galileo last season), and featuring new music by Tony Award-winning singer/songwriter Duncan Sheik (Spring Awakening). Last night at the Masonic Temple on Congress Street, Portland Ovations revealed its new season to its Members and their guests at the Annual Members-Only Preview Party. During the capacity-crowd reception, Ovations Members and their friends received the first look at the new season. From the fresh to the familiar with much fun along the way, the 2013-14 season of 27 performances takes place at Merrill Auditorium, Hannaford Hall at USM, Portland, ICA at MECA, SPACE Gallery and Westbrook Performing Arts Center. AWA Partners has just announced that they are joining forces with OBB/Off Broadway Booking to expand operations as a full-service agency. The new company will operate under the banner of AWA Partners and provide tour direction and booking for attractions spanning from multi-week national tours to single night performances, domestically and internationally, and in venues ranging from performing arts centers of all sizes to arenas and clubs. Partners in the newly expanded company will be L. Glenn Poppleton, Alison Spiriti and Orin Wolf. L. Glenn Poppleton will serve as president of the agency.
