The Old Globe's upcoming World Premiere of Nobody Loves You, a musical comedy with music and lyrics by Gaby Alter and book and lyrics by Itamar Moses set in the world of reality television is currently in previews and opens May 17. James William Productions and Stephenie Skyllas will present Kurt Peterson and Victoria Mallory in "When Everything Was Possible, A Concert (with comments)," for one night only, Sunday April 29th (7:30pm) at New York City Center (131 West 55th Street, between 6th and 7th Avenues), as a benefit for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. They will be joined by a thirteen-piece band (Michael Rafter, Music Director), playing new orchestrations by Tony Award winner Jonathan Tunick. Larry Moss directs, with musical staging by Joshua Bergasse (“Smash”). Carolyn Wong will provide lighting design, with sound design by Leon Rothenberg and projection design by Telegraphicmedia. Freestyle Digital Media, LLC (FDM) announced the release of two new feature comedies “Hard Breakers” starring Sophie Monk and Cameron Richardson, and “Swinging with the Finkels” with Mandy Moore and Martin Freeman. These are the first titles to be released in a new partnership with Gaiam, Inc. who is handling DVD sell through for all Freestyle Digital Media film releases. Freestyle Digital Media LLC (FDM) has acquired DVD and VOD rights for director Mario Van Peebles’ drama REDEMPTION ROAD from Liberty Road Entertainment and Heavy Duty Entertainment. FDM has also picked up DVD and VOD rights to director-writer Marcus Dean Fuller’s supernatural drama ONE FALL from Compass Entertainment and Dean Silvers & Marlen Hecht. Freestyle Digital Media LLC (FDM) has acquired all rights North America (excluding US theatrical) for director Margaret Whitton’s colorful romantic comedy A BIRD OF THE AIR from Tashtego Films LLC. Based on Joe Coomer’s acclaimed novel The Loop, the film stars Jackson Hurst (“Drop Dead Diva”) and Rachel Nichols (“Conan the Barbarian”), and is from an adaptation by screenwriter Roger Towne. Produced by Steven Tabakin and Margaret Whitton, and executive produced by Warren Spector, the film will debut on April 10, 2012. A BIRD OF THE AIR was theatrically released in the USA by Paladin in the fall of 2011. (more...)

The Whole Backstage presents its winter season production of Pride and Prejudice through February 19 under the direction of Will Smith. Evening performances begin at 7:00 pm with Matinee’s starting at 2:00 pm. This romantic comedy, by Jon Jory, based on Jane Austen’s classic novel, is being directed by Will Smith of Guntersville, and features Jon Brown and Kayla Harper, both of Arab, in the lead roles. Ms. Harper is playing Elizabeth Bennet, the heroine on the story, while Mr. Brown portrays Mr. Darcy, her love interest. (more...)
