Artistic Director Ray Jivoff unveiled Skylight Music Theatre's 2018-19 Season line-up of "firsts" -- five shows that have never been produced at Skylight.  "We are thrilled to announce this exciting season of well-known and well-loved shows that have not been produced by Skylight before," said Jivoff. "These are blockbuster titles that perfectly capture Skylight's mission of presenting the full spectrum of music theatre, from musicals to revues to classical repertoire. It is political, and pointed, but never preachy, except to call attention to the motives of those who would preach. It is at once a parody of a witty Broadway comedy of the nineteen-twenties, -thirties, and -forties, and the apotheosis of it; and a part of it also contains a convincing and fairly furious repudiation of itself. For this 1939 play seems well aware that its very style is about to be subsumed by world conflict…

Hartley Manners - was one of Coward's first successful plays and is still staged often around the world. Hay Fever is set in the English country house of the eccentric Bliss family: Judith, a retired stage actress; David, an egotistical novelist; and their two unequivocally unique children Simon and Sorel. Each family member, unbeknownst to the others, has invited a guest for the weekend. Chaos ensues as the guests arrive, take in the unconventional ways of their hosts, and plan their escape.

As the characters Alfred Lunt and Lynn Fontanne, Mark Edward Lang and Alison J. Murphy seem to be a perfect fit in the play about the famous Broadway actors. Lang and Murphy are married in real life and have been performing together for many years. Recently visiting San Antonio, Texas, BWW had a chance to sit down and chat with them about their roles and about the show LUNT AND FONTANNE 'THE CELESTIALS OF BROADWAY.'

The famous duo of Alfred Lunt and Lynn Fontanne are played by real life married actor-couple Mark E. Lang and Alison Murphy, who met fifteen years ago performing in Cape May, New Jersey. They have subsequently worked together numerous times on stage in New Jersey and elsewhere. The play was written by Mark E. Lang, inspired by a comment from a theater-goer who exclaimed, 'You two are becoming the Lunt & Fontanne of South Jersey.'
