I don’t think that South Pacific or even the shows of Rogers and Hammerstein are especially dated or irrelevant. A few years back, Fulton put on The Sound of Music to great appreciation and acclaim. I wish they were able to capture some of that magic this time around.

The event will run 90 minutes and include readings of the 1st and 2nd prize winners, some words about David Einhorn, and a talkback on the topics addressed by the plays.

The Outstanding Filipinos in America Awards honor the triumph of a 17-year-old Filipino tennis player, Alex Eala, who just won the grand slam juniors singles title at the U.S. Open--a first from any tennis player from the Philippines. Ms. Eala, who is now back to training in California, is conferred the TOFA Global Awards for Sports, given to global Filipinos who made exceptional achievements in their field of endeavor.

Leviathan Lab, in collaboration with The Episcopal Actors' Guild, is proud to present the thirteenth year of the Barbour Playwrights Award Reading Series, three evenings of readings of new plays by emerging playwrights. This year's plays examine the intersection of racism and sexism across romance and desire, and the toll these crosses exact on the hearts, minds, and bodies of people of color. This year's featured playwrights are Cherry Lou Sy (Nominee, Cherry Lane Mentor Project), Garrett David Kim (Finalist, Blue Ink Playwriting Award), and Ray Yamanouchi (Semi-Finalist, IMPACT-O'Neill National Playwrights Conference).
