James Levine Returns to the Met to Conduct Three Operas; Full Season Announced Including Nico Muhly, Craig Lucas, Bartlett Sher & More!

The Metropolitan Opera's 2013-14 season will feature many of the world's greatest singers, conductors, and theater artists in 26 operas, including six new productions, of a varied repertory that ranges from the Baroque era to the 21st century. Met Music Director James Levine will return to the Met podium for the first time in two years, conducting three operas with which he has long been associated: a new production of Verdi's final masterpiece Falstaff, Mozart's Cosi fan tutte, and Berg's Wozzeck. Met Principal Conductor Fabio Luisi will be conducting two operas in the 2013-14 season, Rossini's La Cenerentola and Puccini's Madama Butterfly. (more...)

TOSCA, FAUST and THE BARBER OF SEVILLE Set for Atlanta Opera's 2013-14 Season

The Atlanta Opera, one of the nation's finest regional opera companies enriching lives through the power of opera, yesterday announced its 2013-2014 season. The season opens with Tosca in October 2013, followed by Gounod's Faust in March 2014, and concludes with The Barber of Seville in April and May 2014. Opera San Jose Announces 30th Anniversary Season

General Director Irene Dalis announced the repertoire for the company's 30th season to begin Saturday, September 7, 2013 with Verdi's masterwork Falstaff, conducted by Opera San José's founding music director and principal conductor, David Rohrbaugh. In November, Opera San José will present Humperdinck's Hansel and Gretel, a family classic to welcome the holiday season. Acclaimed stage director Brad Dalton returns in 2014 to direct Puccini's bittersweet Madama Butterfly. The season will culminate with Mozart's Don Giovanni conducted by George Cleve, founder and music director of the Midsummer Mozart Festival. (more...)

Amore Opera Presents LA BOHEME, 12/14

This Winter, Amore Opera revives its classic production of Puccini's timeless masterpiece La Boheme. This production launched the company's inaugural season, and its revival promises to be equally riveting. La Boheme is an opera in four acts, with libretto by Luigi Illica. Based on Scenes de la Vie de Boheme by Henri Murger, it is the story of a group of young bohemians living in the Latin Quarter of Paris in the 1840's, and the tragic tale of two lovers doomed by circumstance and illness. La Boheme is fully staged with full orchestra and presented in its original Italian (with subtitles). (more...)
