Aspen Film Announces Lineup for 40th Anniversary Filmfest

Aspen Film is proud to announce the program for its 40th Anniversary Filmfest, which will showcase top filmmaking from across the globe at Aspen's Wheeler Opera House and Metropolitan's Isis Theatre from September 23-29, 2019, and a weighty lineup of documentaries at the Crystal Theater in Carbondale from September 27-29, 2019. In addition to screenings of highly anticipated fall previews and award-winning features and documentaries, panel discussions with special guests punctuate the week-long festival, which celebrates 40 years of Independent by Nature.

HBO Max Lands Original Soderbergh Film LET THEM ALL TALK

Adding to its roster of premium curated content from leading industry powerhouses, HBO MAX has picked up Let Them All Talk (working title), an original film directed by Oscar(R) and Emmy award(R) winner Steven Soderbergh (Traffic, Behind the Candelabra) and written by MacArthur Fellow and PEN / Faulkner award-winning author Deborah Eisenberg.

Jennifer Lawrence has set her next film role, an untitled film for IAC FILMS and A24 that will be directed by Lila Neugebauer, the director of 'The Waverly Gallery,' according to Variety.

Garden of Laughs Comedy Benefit Once Again Raises Over $2 Million

The Garden of Dreams Foundation announced today that the 2019 Garden of Laughs event, presented by Delta Air Lines, once again raised more than $2 million for the Foundation to aid its efforts to make dreams come true for tri-state area children in need. Since its inception in 2013, the biennial Garden of Laughs comedy benefit has raised $7 million in total for the charity. In addition to a sold-out evening of comedy at Garden of Laughs, the Foundation also launched an exclusive online auction through Charitybuzz, where you can continue to support the Garden of Dreams Foundation by bidding on unforgettable packages and experiences, including meet-and-greets and tickets to sporting and entertainment events. The auctions are running now through April 11, 2019, with certain packages closing on April 9.

After 10 days and 121 feature films, the 2019 Sundance Film Festival's Awards Ceremony took place tonight, with host Marianna Palka emceeing and jurors presenting 28 prizes for feature filmmaking. Honorees, named in total below, represent new achievements in global independent storytelling. Bold, intimate, and humanizing stories prevailed across categories, with Grand Jury Prizes awarded to Clemency (U.S. Dramatic), One Child Nation (U.S. Documentary), Honeyland (World Cinema Documentary) and The Souvenir (World Cinema Dramatic).

THE WAVERLY GALLERY Takes Final Broadway Bow Today

The Waverly Gallery, which opened on Broadway on October 25, at the John Golden Theatre, will conclude its limited engagement today, January 27, 2019, after 108 performances and 32 previews.

HONEY BOY and THE SOUND OF SILENCE Receive the Dolby Family Fellowship

Dolby Laboratories' Dolby Institute and Sundance Institute, along with the Ray and Dagmar Dolby Family Fund, today announced that Honey Boy, directed by Alma Har'el and written by Shia LaBeouf, and The Sound of Silence, directed by Michael Tyburski and co-written by Ben Nabors and Michael Tyburski, have both received the Dolby Family Fellowship. The Fellowship offers recipients a wide array of post-production technologies including Dolby Atmos, and new this year, the addition of Dolby Vision to further amplify the filmmakers' visions. Honey Boy will premiere at the 2019 Sundance Film Festival in Dolby Atmos at the Eccles Theatre on Friday January 25 at 3:30 p.m. MT, and the world premiere of The Sound of Silence takes place Saturday, January 26, in Dolby Atmos at the Ray Theater at 12:30 p.m. MT.
