Taconic Stage's THE REAL (DESPERATE) HOUSEWIVES OF COLUMBIA COUNTY MUSICAL to Play the Laurie Beechman, 3/7-28

'The Real (Desperate) Housewives of Columbia County Musical' by Carl Ritchie (book, lyrics, director) and Wayne Moore (music) is a Coward-esque evening from the Taconic Stage Company upstate, which it took by storm in the summer of 2011. Thinly guised as the confessions of four 40-something women on reality TV, this four-character musical spotlights the culture-clash between spoiled, egocentric 'weekender' women and their working class 'townie' counterparts in a rural upstate community. The show has no reason but to delight, which it does with savvy performances, high-heeled lyrics and the poison of its cocktail-party chit-chat dialogue. To share it with a wider audience, Taconic Stage Company will present the piece in its NYC debut March 7 to 28 at the Laurie Beechman Theatre, 407 West 42nd Street. (more...)

As part of the studio's 90th Anniversary celebration, eight of Warner Bros. Pictures' greatest gangster films - from Edward G. Robinson's 1931 classic Little Caesar to Martin Scorsese's Oscar-winning masterpiece The Departed[1] -- will now be available in two Blu-ray sets May 21. Released to coincide with Father's Day gift-giving, the WB genre greats, along with one of Paramount's best gangster films, will be offered in the Ultimate Gangster Collection: Classic and Ultimate Gangster Collection: Contemporary. Tony and Emmy Award winner Hugh Jackman was honored by Museum of the Moving Image at its 27th annual Salute last night, December 11, at Cipriani Wall Street in New York. Jackman wase on hand to accept his Salute, along with Alec Baldwin and Mike Nichols (both past MMI Salutees), Rachel Weisz, Anne Hathaway, Liev Schreiber, Universal's Ron Meyer, Fox's Jim Gianopulos and many of his fellow cast-mates from Les Miserables.

TNT Greenlights Fourth Season of RIZZOLI & ISLES

TNT has ordered a fourth season of its hit drama RIZZOLI & ISLES, from Warner Horizon Television. The series has drawn 7.1 million viewers in its new Tuesday 9 p.m. timeslot and ranks as summer's #1 returning scripted series on basic cable.
