LES MISERABLES, ONCE, ALADDIN & More Set for Mirvish's 50th Season

Mirvish Productions is celebrating fifty years of producing in Toronto with their largest and most ambitious subscription seasons to date, starting with the return of the smash-hit LES MISERABLES with hometown boy Ramin Karimloo in the lead role of Jean Valjean. Toronto will also see the World Premiere of ALADDIN, the Tony Award Winning musical ONCE, the World Premiere of Sergio Trujillo's ARRABAL, the North American Premiere of HEARTBEAT OF HOME, critical favourite METAMORPHOSIS and the North American Premiere of THE LAST CONFESSION. They have also announced four exciting bonus shows and their sophomore Off-Mirvish season. Toronto's THE WIZARD OF OZ Extends Through June 2, 2013

From the very first performance on December 20, 2012, THE WIZARD OF OZ has been a bona fide box office hit. Audiences have packed the Ed Mirvish Theatre (formerly the Canon) to enjoy this new telling of the classic story. More than 60,000 people have already seen the show in just 35 performances, bringing in over $6M at the box office. (more...)

Ramin Karimloo to Lead LES MISERABLES in Toronto?

According to the Toronto Star, LES MISERABLES will soon be heading back to Toronto in the 2013-2014 Mirvish season. Aiming for a September 2013 opening, the show will reportedly feature West End star Ramin Karimloo as 'Jean Valjean'- a role that he previously played on the London stage. (more...)

April 30th Entertainment has announced that seven-time Emmy nominee and "America's Dad" (Growing Pain's) Alan Thicke will be starring as iconic TV personality Jack Bailey in the world premiere of Queen for a Day: the Musical. The 12-performance run begins September 26, 2012 at the brand new state-of-the-art Richmond Hill Centre for the Performing Arts. Thicke is scheduled to perform in 10 shows only. (more...)

Queen for a Day had its world premiere Friday night at The Richmond Hill Centre for the Performing Arts, with a stellar cast including America's Favourite Dad Alan Thicke in the role of Jack Bailey. The show examines the popular American reality show Queen for a Day, which gave everyday housewives the chance to appear on national television and vie to have a wish granted if they became 'Queen for a Day'. Thicke and the rest of the cast are the stand-outs of this particular production, which still needs to correct some clunky dialogue and overly predictable plot lines but shows some real promise down the road.
