Woolly Mammoth Announces Addition of Associate Artistic Director by BWW News Desk - May 17, 2013
Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company has announced the promotion of Miriam Weisfeld from Director of Artistic Development to Associate Artistic Director, an evolution reflective of Woolly's ongoing effort to unify its literary and production activities. In her new role-a position instituted only a few times in Woolly's 34-year history-Weisfeld will continue to manage Woolly's artistic programming from commissions and season selection to implementation, and now also provide oversight of casting, Connectivity, and other initiatives. 2013 Lucille Lortel Awards Held Tonight at NYU; DOGFIGHT, Jake Gyllenhaal and More Among Nominees! by BWW Special Coverage - May 05, 2013
The Off-Broadway League previously announced award nominations in 14 categories and two additional special awards for the 2013 Lucille Lortel Awards for Outstanding Achievement Off-Broadway. The Lortel Awards will be handed out today, May 5, 2013 at NYU Skirball Center beginning at 7:00pm EST, and hosted by acclaimed stage and screen actors Aasif Mandvi and Maura Tierney. Playwrights Horizons Extends THE FLICK Through April 7 by BWW

Due to popular demand, Playwrights Horizons has announced an extension of its critically-acclaimed, sold out World Premiere production of The Flick, a new play by the heralded Obie Award-winning playwright Annie Baker (Circle Mirror Transformation at PH, The Aliens, her recent adaptation of Uncle Vanya). Originally set to play a limited engagement through Today, March 31, the production has extended to Today, April 7 at Playwrights Horizons' Mainstage Theater (416 West 42nd Street). (more...)

New Georges (Susan Bernfield, Producing Artistic Director; Sarah Cameron Sunde, Deputy Artistic Director; Jaynie Saunders Tiller, Managing Director) will present the World Premiere of Lynn Rosen's (Apple Cove with Women's Project) GOLDOR $ MYTHYKA: A HERO IS BORN directed by Shana Gold (Food and Fadwa with New York Theatre Workshop) April 3-27 at The New Ohio Theatre (154 Christopher Street between Greenwich and Washington). Austin Pendleton to Lead Off-Broadway's THE LAST WILL by BWW News Desk - Apr 01, 2013
Austin Pendleton is set to play William Shakespeare in Abingdon Theatre Company's Off-Broadway premiere of Robert Brustein's THE LAST WILL, which he will also direct, beginning Friday, April 5 in the June Havoc Theatre (312 West 36th Street). Brustein's final installment of his trilogy examining the life of William Shakespeare, THE LAST WILL is set to open on April 17, with performances through May 5. OBIE Award-winner Austin Pendleton replaces actor Peter Cameron who has left the production. (more...)

The New Victory Theater Presents The Intergalactic Nemesis: Book One: TARGET EARTH, 4/5-13 by BWW News Desk - Feb 27, 2013
As featured on "Late Night with Conan O'Brien" and NPR's "All Things Considered," The Intergalactic Nemesis Book One: "Target Earth" takes to the stage in a new genre: a sci-fi live-action, graphic novel. With an uncanny combination of comic book meets radio serial, mediums converge as three actors, a Foley artist and musician perform all the voices, sound effects and music for more than 1,000 hand-drawn, full-color-and-larger-than-life comic book panels projected on to a screen. The out-of-this-world adventure of The Intergalactic Nemesis Book One: "Target Earth" will run at The New Victory Theater, 209 West 42nd Street from April 5 through 13. (more...)

This classic Russian tale of arranged marriages follows a young bachelor through the hesitation many men experience when confronted with the idea of serious commitment.
