Primal Forces opens the 2019-2020 season with a powerful and poignant new comedy by Lindsey Ferrentino. The play, which debuted last year at New York's Roundabout Theatre, follows a Jewish family on a road trip that uncovers an old scandal and some shattering family secrets. The play features an all-star ensemble and runs November 15-December 8 at The Sol Theater in Boca Raton. On Saturday, October 26th, the APSU Department of Theatre and Dance and the Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts (CECA) will present a public Q&A with Tony winning director and Acuff chair Freddie Ashley.

The National Arts Club (NAC) has selected Inda Craig-Galván as the recipient of the 2019 Kesselring Prize for playwriting. Since 1980, the $25,000 award has been presented to an outstanding playwright deserving of national recognition.

San Francisco Playhouse announced casting for the first production of their 2019/2020 Sandbox Series of World Premieres: The Daughters, written by Patricia Cotter. Jessica Holt will direct the world premiere production, presented at the Creativity Theater.

Roundabout Theatre Company (Todd Haimes, Artistic Director/CEO) has just announced the world premiere of Exception to the Rule, by Dave Harris, directed by Miranda Haymon. This production was part of the 2019 Roundabout Underground Reading Series and will begin performances on April 30, 2020.

The League of Professional Theatre Women (Kelli Lynn Harrison & Catherine Porter, Co-Presidents) has published the fourth in a series of reports authored by Martha Wade Steketee with Judy Binus, on the status of women employed in New York City theaters. The fourth report, Women Count: Women Hired Off Broadway, available at theatrewomen.org/women-count/, analyzes employment in 13 professional roles - playwrights, directors, designers, stage managers, and others - in 515 Off- and Off-Off-Broadway productions by 22 theater companies for 5 complete seasons, 2013-14 through 2017-18 to show where women are and are not being hired.

Written by Florida playwright Lindsey Ferrentino, Innovocative Theatre brings a searing drama to Stageworks Theatre. Ugly Lies the Bone tells the story of a severely wounded female war veteran in 2011 attempting to start a new life after a third tour in Afghanistan. She faces struggles after returning to her home in Titusville, Florida. She's endured intense pain from both her injuries and the surgeries that followed, and uses virtual reality therapy for pain management to begin to emotionally heal herself.
