JERSEY BOYS 1st National Tour Closes Today in San Francisco

The Tony, Grammy and Olivier Award-winning hit musical Jersey Boys, the story of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons, ends its first national tour at San Francisco's SHN Curran Theatre today, April 28, 2013, after playing a total of 2,598 performances on the road. The second national tour continues to travel throughout the country. Jersey Boys worldwide has been seen by over 15 million people. (more...)

Theater Emory Presents THE CHERRY ORCHARD, 4/4-14

Anton Chekhov knew he was dying as he wrote his final play, "The Cherry Orchard," a masterpiece about transition that itself transitioned theater into a new age. Theater Emory presents this moving comedy as the final production of their 2012-2013 season, "Provocative Tales: Eccentrics, Beasts, & Misfits," April 4-14 in the Mary Gray Munroe Theater. (more...)

Downtown Urban Theater Festival Announces 2013 Season

Now in its 11th year, the Downtown Urban Theater Festival (DUTF) is becoming New York's premiere winter/spring theatre event showcasing independent theatre artists looking to bring their work to wider audiences while offering them the resources they require to succeed. The three-week festival, produced by Creative Ammo, Inc., rolls into HERE Mainstage in SoHo, NYC February 27 through March 16, 2013 with its unique brand of urban theater that provides writers from America's burgeoning multicultural landscape the opportunity to share their stories that interpret our history and our times. Downtown Urban Theater Festival Announces Finalists for 2013 Season

Next year will mark the much-anticipated 11th annual season of the Downtown Urban Theater Festival (DUTF) and from 120 submissions, DUTF has narrowed it down to 24 finalists. The decisions were extremely difficult due to the amazing plays received from gifted emerging writers who hail from across the U.S. and internationally from Canada, Israel and the United Kingdom. Horizon's Avenue Q and Alliance Theatre are big winners of Atlanta's 2011 Suzi Awards

Atlanta's 2011 Suzi Awards for professional theatre celebrated 22 companies, hundreds of professional artists, theatre volunteers, and the Center for Puppetry Arts at a gala event Monday evening at the Conant Center on Oglethorpe University's campus. With over four hundred in attendance, the evening began as each of the casts nominated for Ensemble-Musical performed a medley of numbers from their shows. After the performances, all the casts came back on stage to await the announcement of their category's winner, reflecting Melissa McCarthy and friends at the Emmy Awards. The cast of See What I Wanna See at Actor's Express (Kylie Brown, Ingrid Cole, Dustin Lewis, Stuart Schleuse and Craig Waldrip) took home the Suzi and the congratulations of the thirty nominees on stage with them.
