BWW Interviews: Louise Pitre talks La Vie En Rouge

Louise Pitre is musical theatre royalty here in Canada, and after many years is finally performing a solo show here in Toronto. La Vie En Rouge will combine her passion for French music and songs with some of her most notable English hits, and will be recorded live on June 1st with a studio audience. Dora Award Nominations Announced, Ceremony Held 6/28

At a press conference held today at the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts, the Toronto Alliance for the Performing Arts (TAPA) announced 174 nominations for 225 eligible productions that opened between June 1, 2009 and May 31, 2010 for the 31st annual Dora Mavor Moore Awards which honour excellence in the performing arts in Toronto. Gordon's SYCAMORE TREES at Signature Closes 6/13

Previews will begin today at Virginia's Signature Theatre for the world premiere musical Sycamore Trees written by Ricky Ian Gordon, the award-winning composer of the opera The Grapes of Wrath and the musicals Dream True and My Life with Albertine. A starry Broadway cast portrays Gordon's own family story - complete with a tough Bronx-born father and former "Borscht Belt" singer/comedian mother - in a tale of two generations' struggles and triumphs in the decades from World War II through the 1990s.
