BAM and Caribbean Film Series present two special events this June: Stefon Bristol's Spike Lee-produced sci-fi feature See You Yesterday (2019) on Tuesday, June 4 at 7pm, and Storm Saulter's Jamaican sports film Sprinter (2018), screening on Wednesday, June 26 at 7:30pm.

Isaac Mizrahi returns to Cafe Carlyle for three special performances titled Isaac & on June 10, June 17, and June 24. Isaac's previous three residencies in the room were sellouts, receiving widespread critical acclaim. He'll be joined by his band of jazz musicians, led by Ben Waltzer, for an evening of eclectic tunes and charming storytelling. Each night a well-known friend will join him on stage for a few songs and banter. With a fresh stock of swag items to re-gift to audience members and a wealth of commentary on everything from prescription drugs to obsession with social media, audiences are sure to be delighted by this "founding father of Alt Cabaret," according to the New York Times.

On Monday, April 29, 2019 ArtsConnection's Spring 2019 Benefit will celebrate the Art2Art: Dear Evan Hansen partnership at the IAC Building in Chelsea. The evening will be hosted by MSNBC journalist Nicolle Wallace and include a special performance by the Dear Evan Hansen cast. The event will be styled by acclaimed event designer and ArtsConnection Board Member David Monn.

This season, Academy Award-nominee Adam Driver is making his return to the Broadway stage alongside Keri Russell in Lanford Wilson's play Burn This.

From Friday, April 19 through Thursday, April 25, BAM presents the exclusive Brooklyn engagement of Wanuri Kahiu's groundbreaking Kenyan film Rafiki (2018) in its first-ever US theatrical release. Kahiu will appear in person during the run.

FringeArts welcomes the most exciting new voices in American comedy to Philadelphia on February 1 & 2 for the inaugural Blue Heaven comedy festival. The festival name references "blue" comedy, or the bawdiest, most risque material in a comedian's repertoire, and Blue Heaven celebrates precisely that with a diverse lineup that pairs cabaret performers alongside nationally-recognized comedians as they tease and interrogate stand-up, improv, sketch, and musical comedy.

The Athena Film Festival (AFF) at Barnard College announced today its film slate, including opening night, closing night, and centerpiece films, as well as additional programming for the 2019 festival. The ninth annual festival, co-founded by the Athena Center for Leadership Studies at Barnard College and Women and Hollywood, will take place February 28 to March 3, 2019, at Barnard College in New York City. In 2012, during the first season of her popular television series “Girls,” show creator and Robyn super-fan Lena Dunham featured “Dancing On My Own” in a crucial point in the storyline. The song placement re-ignited interest in the track which had been released two years earlier. In late 2016, Lena contacted Robyn and asked if she would consider creating a song specifically for the show's final season. Already working on new music, she agreed, and sent some ideas to Dunham. She picked a song, and the first incarnation of “Honey” was introduced to the world.
