ABS-CBN, the Philippine television network that bagged the rights to adapt the hit reality show 'The Voice' from Talpa Media Group, based in the Netherlands, has just released 'The Voice PH' newest blind auditions trailer, which features coaches Lea Salonga, Apl. de. ap of Black Eyed Peas, Bamboo Mañalac, and Sarah Geronimo-all four have carved out solid music careers and have huge fan bases in the Philippines. The Broadway-bound show is in the midst of a New York City developmental lab through May 17, and a production source tells BroadwayWorld.com that ALLEGIANCE is aiming for Broadway, possibly in the spring of 2014. The source cautions that there's numerous variables including star schedules and theatre availability that need to line up, so there is yet no official plan. (more...)

The Carlyle, A Rosewood Hotel will welcome back Tony Award-Winner Lea Salonga to the Cafe Carlyle for her highly anticipated three-week engagement. Her new program, 'Back to Before,' is a nostalgic repertoire in which she revisits her life as a New Yorker and pays tribute to her favorite ladies-most notably Ella Fitzgerald and her idol, Barbra Streisand. There are only a few more performances to catch for Gerard Alessandrini's FORBIDDEN BROADWAY: ALIVE AND KICKING! at the 47th Street Theatre (304 West 47th Street). The smash musical, which received unanimous raves from critics and audiences alike, broke all box-office records at the 47th Street Theatre and won spots on the Top Ten Lists of Time Magazine and the Associated Press, will begin its hiatus on Sunday, April 28, in order to make room for The Puerto Rican Traveling Theatre's own season, as required by the show's lease agreement with the theatre.
