Classic Stage Company's THE CAUCASIAN CHALK CIRCLE Extends Through 6/23; Lea DeLaria Joins Cast

Classic Stage Company, under the leadership of Artistic Director Brian Kulick and Executive Director Greg Reiner, announced today that their new production of Bertolt Brecht's THE CAUCASIAN CHALK CIRCLE featuring Christopher Lloyd (Azdak), directed by Brian Kulick (who directed Brecht's Galileo last season), and featuring new music by Tony Award-winning singer/songwriter Duncan Sheik (Spring Awakening), will extend for two additional weeks through Sunday, June 23. The third annual "Night of A Thousand Judys" - presented by The Meeting* hosted by Justin Sayre - has added Carolee Carmello(Tony Award nominee for Scandalous), Justin Vivian Bond (Tony Award nominated performance artist), Lea DeLaria (acclaimed comedian and jazz vocalist), Jaime Cepero ("Smash"), Telly Leung ("Glee," Godspell), Scott Matthew (Shortbus), Natalie Joy Johnson (Silence!, Legally Blonde) and Nancy Anderson (Wonderful Town, A Class Act) to the lineup of talent for the show on Monday, June 17. The award was presented at a gala event at B.B. King on May 13 with four-time Tony Award-winning playwright and actor Harvey Fierstein, a frequent collaborator of Jerry Mitchell (and bookwriter of Kinky Boots), to emcee a tribute written by six-time Emmy Award winner Bruce Vilanch. Grammy Award-winner Cyndi Lauper, who wrote the music & lyrics for Kinky Boots, introduced a number from Kinky Boots included in the tribute. The Bucks County Playhouse in New Hope, Pennsylvania will begin their season with MAME starting May 23, 2013. The show will star Andrea McArdle in the role of Mame and Lea DeLaria as Vera Charles. DeLaria is a multi-talented performer, she is known as a comedian, jazz musician, actress and author. On stage, DeLaria is best known for her role as Hildy Esterhazy in ON THE TOWN in which she was nominated for a Drama Desk Award, and won a Theatre World Award. (more...)

Broadway's original 'Annie', the Tony nominated Andrea McArdle, is on the boards at The Media Theatre this spring in the classic Jerry Herman musical 'Mame' April 17-May 19. The show focuses on Auntie Mame, the eccentric socialite who finds out she must care for her young nephew, forever changing her-and his-outlook on life. Songs include 'Open A New Window', 'Bosom Buddies', and 'We Need A Little Christmas'. Comedienne Lea DeLaria portays Mame's best pal Vera in Director Jesse Cline's revival of the hit. (more...)
