After its excellent recent revival at Stratford East, there is clearly still public and creative appetite for Mike Leigh's savage suburban comedy, Abigail's Party, now ending another national tour at the Rose Theatre in some style.

Unlike what seems like the entire population of the UK, I didn’t know anything about Abigail’s Party when I began working on it with Jack Bradfield in May this year. I was, however, a big fan of Mike Leigh’s films because of his eccentric yet totally believable characters. I love his use of banal and repressed dialogue and there’s such an incredible combination of brutality and compassion in his work.

Kerry Condon has joined the cast of Pressure, the upcoming screen adaptation of David Haig's play. In the film, she will portray Captain Kay Summersby, the chauffeur and personal secretary to Dwight D. Eisenhower. The real-life figure was played by Laura Rogers in previous stage productions.

Barbara Sinatra Children’s Center announces the return of “One Night Only' for the 17th year at the McCallum Theatre produced by Michael Childers with returning director Scott Coulter and musical director Todd Schroeder along with choreographer Jonathan Sharp. This year’s theme is “Las Vegas: The Golden Age, 1950-1970.” Patrons will take a step back in time for “Las Vegas: The Golden Age, 1950-1970” starring Debby Boone, Clint Holmes, Jennifer Leigh Warren (all 3 pictured) Klea Blackhurst, Billy Stritch, Carole J. All new production photos have been released from the upcoming new play by Jack Thorne, When Winston Went to War with the Wireless, directed by Katy Rudd. The production opens at the Donmar Warehouse tomorrow, 13 June and runs until 29 July.

What did our critic think of PRESSURE at Royal Alexandra Theatre? Mirvish Productions presents Pressure playing at the Royal Alexandra Theatre until March 5 2023. Fitting to the name, this performance is a pressurized exploration into the days leading up to D-Day in June, 1944. General Dwight Eisenhower (exquisitely played by Malcolm Sinclair) led the Allied Forces on a carefully calculated attack on Nazi-occupied France. With 350 000 lives at stake, the one unpredictable wild card was the often unforgiving weather. The man tasked with delivering the most crucial weather forecast in history fell on Scottish meteorologist James Stagg (Kevin Doyle).
