American Conservatory Theater (A.C.T.) Artistic Director Carey Perloff announced today that The Normal Heart, Larry Kramers landmark play focusing on the early days of the AIDS crisis in New York City in the 1980s, will open the 201213 season this fall, playing Sep 13-Oct 7. ( more...)

VITO to Open OUTFEST: 30th Los Angeles Gay & Lesbian Film Festival, 7/12-22

Outfest the Los Angeles-based nonprofit organization dedicated to nurturing, showcasing and protecting lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) media announced today that Jeffrey Schwarzs documentary Vito has been selected as the Opening Night gala of the 30th Los Angeles Gay & Lesbian Film Festival. Vito chronicles the story of Vito Russo, founding father of the gay liberation movement, author of "The Celluloid Closet," and vociferous AIDS activist in the 1980s. The film features Lily Tomlin, Armistead Maupin, Bruce Vilanch, Richard Berkowitz and Larry Kramer. ( more...)

Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater produces the 2011 Tony Award-winning production of Larry Kramers The Normal Heart, directed by George C. Wolfe. Wolfe, who directed the shows sold-out Broadway engagement last season, mounts the professional D.C.-area premiere of this production, which features returning Broadway cast members Patrick Breen and Luke MacFarlane, among others. Presented by special arrangement with Daryl Roth, The Normal Heart runs June 8-July 29, 2012 in the Kreeger Theater. ( more...)

Following her holiday show in Provincetown last Christmas, and her debut at the Laurie Beechman Theater in New York City this past February, David Drakes newest theatrical creation Tawny Heatherton will bring her blonde-swept brand of cheer back to the tip of the Cape for her very first summer-long engagement with the premiere of TAWNY, TELL ME TRUE at the Crown & Anchor in Provincetown, MA. With onstage musical direction by John Thomas, TAWNY, TELL ME TRUE opens June 17th and performs every Sunday at 10PM thru Sept 2nd in the Crown Cabaret Room of the Crown & Anchor, 247 Commercial Street. In June 1992, David Drake opened his one-man show The Night Larry Kramer Kissed Me, which went on to make theatrical history as one of the longest running one-man shows in New York.
