Scott Fitzgerald in his novels and stories, and directly associated with his life make up the soundtrack of an inventive new theatrical revue conceived and co-created by the jazz writer Will Friedwald, co-created and directed by Sarna Lapine, with music direction by Jon Weber. 'Tales from the Jazz Age: An F. Scott Fitzgerald Songbook' receives its world premiere in four nights from June 13 to 21 at the renowned Cafe Carlyle, a Rosewood Hotel, as part of its new Second Act Late-Night Series. Now in its 15th season, Lincoln Center's acclaimed series American Songbook celebrates the best in American singing and songwriting with a new chapter in the Songbook story: 'American Songbook in the Penthouse,' a series of weekend-only performances by performers and composers presented in the Stanley H. Kaplan Penthouse, an intimate yet elegant venue that brings artists closer to the audience in a cabaret-style setting. The second weekend of Kaplan Penthouse performances, the sixth week of American Songbook 2013, runs April 5-6, 2013. April 5th belongs to Cristin Milioti, who was nominated for a Tony Award in 2012 for her lead role in the musical Once. (more...)

Now in its 15th season, Lincoln Center's acclaimed series American Songbook celebrates the best in American singing and songwriting with a new chapter in the Songbook story: 'American Songbook in the Penthouse,' a series of weekend-only performances by performers and composers presented in the Stanley H. Kaplan Penthouse, an intimate yet elegant venue that brings artists closer to the audience in a cabaret-style setting. 'American Songbook in the Penthouse' embraces adventuresome performers and celebrates composers and lyricists, both newer and veteran. With a seating capacity of just 225, the Kaplan Penthouse allows acoustic performers to be heard the way they intend - near to the audience and without elaborate amplification. The size of the space also allows performers to interact with their audience to make them an integral part of their performance, something difficult to do in a larger, more formal venue. (more...)

Regina Carter and Nnenna Freelon will replace the previously announced Tony and Grammy winner Dee Dee Bridgewater in a December 14, 2013 concert celebrating the 90th birthdays of Dinah Washington and Sarah Vaughan. The Royal Conservatory congratulates Ms. Bridgewater on her role in the upcoming off-Broadway production of Lady Day, in which she will portray legendary jazz singer Billie Holiday. The production begins September 12, which is the reason Ms. Bridgewater had to cancel her Conservatory appearance in December. (more...)

Rockwood Music Hall welcomes back pianist James Carson and drummer Lyndon Rochelle (Esperanza Spalding) tonight, February 1, 2013 at 7pm. After filming the finale of Carson's documentary Cabin Music at their last outing there together this past December, the pair returns to deliver the incomparable synergy of Carson's shimmering piano effects with Rochelle's entrancing hip-hop beats.
