CAROLS FOR A CURE is the annual two-disc holiday CD compilation of original songs and holiday classics which benefits BC/EFA. These CDs boast the best voices from the worlds of Broadway, Off-Broadway and national tours. A full track list for this year's 14th edition has not yet been announced, but the cast of Broadway's THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA was already hard a work this week recording their track for the album. Acclaimed Off-Broadway not-for-profit theater company Playwrights Horizons (Tim Sanford, Artistic Director; Leslie Marcus, Managing Director) has announced additional details for its 2012 special online Auction. Bidding for the auction, which already features an outstanding array of unique opportunities and experiences, is now underway at www.BiddingForGood/PlaywrightsHorizons. Many of Broadway's stars are participating in the 13th annual Carols for a Cure album. Broadway veterans Jim Stanek - whose Broadway credits include Indiscretions; ...Forum; The Rivals; Little Women; Lestat; The Story Of My Life - and Hugh Panaro, who has appeared in Les Misérables, The Phantom of the Opera and as the title character in Elton John's Letsat, contributed their voices to the album. Produced by Rock-it Science Records and currently in it's thirteenth year, purchase of the album benefits Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. This highly anticipated annual holiday release features casts from the current line-up of prestigious shows performing new and traditional holiday music. Broadway's Carols for a Cure offers a 'snapshot' of each season, as the casts and orchestras from each show on Broadway perform their own holiday track. BC/EFA's Broadway Bears XII Raises $152,116

Broadway lovers and teddy bear collectors came together on Sunday, February 15, at the BROADWAY BEARS XII auction, which raised a grand total of $152,116! The event was hosted by Bryan Batt with Lorna Kelly reprising her role as auctioneer. Forty specially made BROADWAY BEARS ? each dressed in original, handmade costumes representing the theater?s most legendary characters - were auctioned to the highest bidder in support of Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. Last year?s BROADWAY BEARS raised $130,878 and the grand total for all 12 Broadway Bears auctions is $1,644,077.18 with over 500 bears auctioned. (more...)
