Rattlestick Playwrights Theater announces that Wyatt Fenner (The Whale, Misalliance, Next Fall) will take over the lead role of Eli in Slipping starting Sunday, April 21, 2013. Fenner will replace Seth Numrich (Broadway's War Horse, Golden Boy), who will travel to London to star with Kim Cattrall in the upcoming production of Tennessee Williams' Sweet Bird of Youth at the Old Vic. Fenner has received rave reviews for his performances, including his most recent role as 19-year-old Mormon missionary Elder Thomas in The Whale, at South Coast Rep. Slipping, written and directed by Daniel Talbott, runs through Sunday May 5, 2013 at the Lillian Theatre in Hollywood, CA. The production, which marks Colaizzo's New York playwriting debut, plays at the Lucille Lortel Theatre (121 Christopher Street, NYC) through March 10, 2013. The opening was last night, February 19.

Today in 1975, Private Lives opened at the 46th Street Theatre (now the Richard Rogers Theatre), where it ran for 92 performances. Private Lives is a 1930 comedy of manners in three acts by Noel Coward. It focuses on a divorced couple who discover that they are honeymooning with their new spouses in neighbouring rooms at the same hotel. Despite a perpetually stormy relationship, they realise that they still have feelings for each other. Its second act love scene was nearly censored in Britain as too risque. Coward wrote one of his most popular songs, 'Some Day I'll Find You', for the play. (more...)
