Full casting has been announced for the new production of the Tony Award winning musical Jelly’s Last Jam.

Last night, The Acting Company awarded Stephen McKinley Henderson the John Houseman Award Honor, and William H. Wright II the Joan M. Warburg Award Honor, as part of The Acting Company’s “Fantastic Journeys” Gala. See photos from the evening below!

According to Deadline, playwright Robert O'Hara will be bringing Barbecue to the big screen. O'Hara will be directing the feature film adaptation of his play, which will star Colman Domingo, Marisa Tomei, and Danai Gurira. Domingo is no stranger to Barbecue, having directed a production of the play at the Geffen Playhouse in Los Angeles. Onscreen, Domingo recently starred in the film version of The Color Purple and was nominated for an Academy Award for his performance in 2023's Rustin.

SDCF has announced the host theatre for its 2023 Lloyd Richards New Futures Residency program: St. Louis Black Repertory Co (The Black Rep) in St. Louis, MO. Applications are being accepted now for a Resident Artist, who will be mentored by The Black Rep's Producing Director Ron Himes for one year while also undertaking their own artistic projects at the host theatre.
