Now in it's 14th season - Making Books Sing, the New York-based company dedicated to turning books for young readers into musical works for the stage, will present the world premiere of the new family musical TEA WITH CHACHAJI - with Book & Lyrics by Gwynne Watkins and Music by Denver Casado, with performances set for the Lovinger Theatre at Lehman College in The Bronx; BMCC Tribeca Performing Arts Center in Manhattan; the Goldstein Theatre at Kingsborough Community College in Brooklyn; and Stanford Lively Arts in Stanford, CA.

Liza Minnelli's Tony Award-winning performance 'LIZA'S AT THE PALACE,' American Public Television (ATP) will distribute the long awaited Special in December, 2009. This event pays tribute to those individuals who have played a significant role in the gay and lesbian community's historic response to the AIDS crisis. Alan Cumming will host the evening of honoree tributes, fabulous food, a luxury live auction, and a special performance by the legendary Debbie Harry.

Jeff Daniels, Hope Davis, James Gandolfini and Marcia Gay Harden star in GOD OF CARNAGE, the new play by Yasmina Reza, translated by Christopher Hampton, directed by Matthew Warchus, opened on Broadway at the Bernard Jacobs Theatre (242 West 45 Street), Sunday March 22. In its eleven years, amfAR's black-tie dinner and gala have honored the likes of Carine Roitfeld, Julian Schnabel, Anna Wintour, Barbara Walters, Tom Hanks, Richard Gere, and many more. The annual gala, which has raised nearly $10 million over the years to support AIDS research, HIV prevention, treatment education, and the advocacy of sound AIDS-related public policy, celebrated the new honorees on February 12 at Cipriani 42nd Street with an unofficial pre-party to New York's Fashion Week

The nominations for the 2009 GLAAD Media Awards have been announced, BILLY ELLIOT and Road Show were among the New York theatre related show nominees. The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation also announced that Tyra Banks will receive the Excellence in Media Award and Suze Orman will be awarded the Vito Russo Award. GLAAD also give honors to comicbooks, advertising and journalism. Ceremonies will be held on March 28 in New York at the Marriott Maquis, April 18 in Los Angeles at the Nokia Theatre and on May 9 in San Francisco at the San Francisco Hilton.

New York Musical Theatre Festival (Isaac Robert Hurwitz, Executive Producer) has commissioned a new dance piece, 'Wild About Harry,' to be presented in their fifth season at Manhattan Movement & Arts Center 248 West 60th Street (between Amsterdam & 11th Avenues) September 19th, 20th, 21st, and 28th.

On Monday June 9th, 2008 amfAR presented Honoring with Pride: Honoring Jerry Mitchell: A celebration of the gay and lesbian community's response in the fight against HIV/AIDS. The event featured Taylor Dayne and was hosted by Mario Cantone. In addition to Jerry Mitchell the event honored Julie Davids and the company Kiehl's Since 1851.

The Foundation for AIDS Research's 'Honoring with Pride' gala took place at the Rainbow Room at Rockefeller Center on June 5th.

Sunday night, December 10th at Joe's Pub at the Public Theater, BroadwayWorld.com celebrated the holidays with an exciting, star-studded concert to raise money for Broadway Cares / Equity Fights AIDS.
