TRU Presents Writer-Director Communications Lab, 6/29

Theater Resources Unlimited (TRU) announces the 2013 TRU Writer-Director Communications Lab on Saturday, June 29, 2013 from 11am-5pmat The Players Theatre's Steve & Marie Sgouros Theatre, 3rd floor, 115 MacDougal Street, NYC. Ten directors will be paired with ten playwrights in this unique lab that helps nurture one of the most essential - and sensitive - relationships in theater. Four spots remain open for directors, who may apply by emailing TRUnltd@aol.com; TRU is accepting applications from writers until Friday, June 21st. Theater Resources Unlimited (TRU) announces that theater producers Meredith Lucio (The 39 Steps, Rooms: a rock romance) and Christopher Massimine (Shall We Dance, Civil War Voices, Operations Director at Origin Theatre) have been named as the 2011/2012 Program Directors for TRU'S re-envisioned Producer Development and Mentorship Program (PDMP), following the successful tenure of outgoing directors Jane Dubin (The Norman Conquests, 39 Steps, unFramed) and Tom Smedes (Next Fall, Title of Show, Naked Boys Singing). Tristan Sturrock Joins Deborah Cox in JOSEPHINE Pre-Broadway Workshops in June

Tristan Sturrock, recently seen on Broadway in BRIEF ENCOUNTER, has signed on to star opposite multi-platinum recording artist Deborah Cox, who previously starred on Broadway in AIDA, in the Broadway-bound musical JOSEPHINE, featuring music by three-time Grammy-nominee Steve Dorff, lyrics by Oscar and Golden Globe-nominee John Bettis, and book by Ellen Weston and Mark Hampton. Theater Resources Unlimited (TRU) offers twenty-two writers a chance to practice their pitching skills with real producers who are looking for new work. TRU's next WRITER-PRODUCER SPEED DATE will take place on Sunday, October 3, 2010 at 5:30pm and 6:30pm at The Players Theatre, 115 MacDougal Street (below W. 3rd Street), NYC. Commercial Broadway producers already scheduled to listen and respond to writer pitches include Pam Koslow (Jane Eyre, Jelly's Last Jam, Yank!), Ken Waissman (Grease, Torch Song Trilogy), Jane Dubin (The Norman Conquests revival, 39 Steps), Cheryl Wiesenfeld (Legally Blonde, A Steady Rain, The Exonerated) and Apples and Oranges Productions (Memphis, Hair), with six more to be announced.
