William Greaves Receives 2012 Paul Robeson Award by BWW News Desk - Oct 08, 2012
Actors' Equity Association announced today that Emmy-Award winning director/producer and writer William Greaves is the recipient of the 2012 Paul Robeson Award. Created in 1971, the Award recognizes a person who best exemplifies the principles by which Mr. Robeson lived. The award will be presented to Mr. Greaves at the October 12 Eastern Regional Membership Meeting at the Union's headquarters in New York City. (more...)

Mine Entertainment Group has announced a one-night only benefit performance of the one-act play, "Katrina Who?!" taking place tonight, September 19 (8PM) at The Zephyr Theatre in West Hollywood. Written and directed by Melanie Maria Goodreaux, "Katrina Who?!" honors the seventh anniversary of Hurricane Katrina through the personal stories of five NOLA residents who recount the destruction, devastation, survival and triumph in the aftermath of the deadliest and most destructive hurricane of 2005. It may be the final week of Lincoln Center Out of Doors, but the festival isn't winding down when it comes to exciting performances. This week, Lincoln Center celebrates the 40th Anniversary of the landmark Soul at the Center, highlighted by Valerie Simpson's first tribute to her late partner, Nick Ashford, since his passing. The pair that wrote such Motown hits as "Ain't No Mountain High Enough," "Reach Out and Touch (Somebody's Hand)," and "I'm Every Woman," made their performing debut as a duo at Lincoln Center 40 years ago. On July 28, 2012 - National Dance Day - the U.S. Postal Service® will pay tribute to four influential choreographers who changed the art of dance: Isadora Duncan, Jose Limon, Katherine Dunham, and Bob Fosse. Designed to look like posters advertising a performance, the stamp art captures the luminosity and mystery of a live dance performance.
The stamp design for Isadora Duncan reflects her interest in classical Greek dance forms and shows the seemingly effortless style that she developed. Radical for its time, her linking of movement and expressiveness garnered her worldwide critical acclaim. (more...)

Five women will share an intimate discussion about their personal journeys in the industry. The esteemed panel will be moderated by Image Activist and Writer Michaela Angela Davis and will include, Lillias White, Melba Moore, Beverly Bond, Malikha Mallette, and Winsome Sinclair. The theatre is located in the historic Riverside Church at 91 Claremont Ave. (bet. 120th & 122nd St.), Morningside Heights. The event will be followed by a V.I.P reception sponsored by Given Liqueur.
