Cabaret’s newest rising star, Marissa Mulder, is set to bring her celebrated cabaret act ‘ILLUSIONS’ to The Triad on Saturday, June 16th at 7pm, presented by Dan Whitten/Tiger Theatricals. Mulder won the Metropolitan Room’s 2011 MetroStar Challenge and grew up in Syracuse, New York and graduated from SUNY Geneseo in 2007 where she studied musical theatre. (more...)

Artists in Partnership (AIP), a non-profit cultural arts organization, will host its 10th Annual Cabaret Festival May 16-20 at the Long Beach Public Library, 111 West Park Avenue, Long Beach, NY. All performances are free to the public. Marissa Mulder, winner of the 2011 MetroStar Talent Challenge, headlines the Metropolitan Room, 34 West 22nd Street, in a special prime time engagement beginning March 7. The world premiere of “Illusions” plays a total of four consecutive nights, Wednesday through Saturday, March 4, 5, 6, 7, all at 7pm. Opening for Mulder will be her MetroStar co-finalists Fran Leonardis and Stacie Perlman on alternating nights. (more...)

The 10th Annual Nightlife Awards this year honored Terri White (Follies), who spent a great many years as one of New York's most exciting piano bar entertainers. White was honored with a Special Award for her Contributions to New York Nightlife. As is always the case with The All-Performance Nightlife Awards, Terri took the stage to sing. Also returning to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of the Nightlife Awards by performing were two former Nightlife Jazz Vocalist winners, Allan Harris and Karen Oberlin. (more...)

The cast of the 10th Annual Nightlife Awards reaches critical mass with the addition of Tony Nominee and Nightlife Legend KAREN AKERS and nightlife and recording sensation NELLIE McKAY. They join a cast that already includes TERRI WHITE (Follies), who spent a great many years as one of New York's most exciting piano bar entertainers and will be honored with a Special Award for her Contributions to New York Nightlife. Following eighteen sold out shows, the hit cabaret series, SONDHEIM UNPLUGGED, will continue for an nineteenth installment, Sunday, October 30 at 7pm at The Laurie Beechman Theatre. Sondheim Unplugged is currently celebrating the second year of it's smash run, having begun this journey of celebrating Sondheim in July of 2010. The series will close, following an unprecedented 17 month run, with it's 20th performance on Monday, November 28 @ 7pm. (more...)

GINGER ROGERS, the Academy Award winning screen legend from the films 42nd Street, Top Hat, The Gay Divorcee and dozens more, would have been 100 this year. She will be celebrated with a live performance and an exhibition of her archive and memorabilia created in celebration of her life and career as one of America's most luminescent and talented motion picture actresses. The special exhibition opens at Boston's Mugar Library Building on Monday, October 24. Hosted by Nick Clooney, the event will feature an appearance by special guest Angela Lansbury. The live performances will debut at the Tsai Performance Center (October 24) in Boston and the Coolidge Corner Theatre in Brookline (October 25). (more...)
