Chautauqua Theater Company (CTC), under the leadership of Vivienne Benesch Artistic Director and Sarah Clare Corporandy Managing Director, is proud to announce casting for its 30th Anniversary season featuring Tennessee Williams' Cat on a Hot Tin Roof(June 28-July 7), the Pulitzer and Tony-winning Clybourne Park (July 19-28), Shakespeare's The Comedy of Errors (August 9-16) all on the Bratton Theater Mainstage, in addition to The Romeo & Juliet Project (July 27) in the renowned 5,000-seat Chautauqua Amphitheater. The Exchange's Artistic Director, Ari Edelson, has announced the artists and companies who participating in the 2013 Orchard Project Summer Residencies. An unprecedented twenty-one companies, teams, and individual artists have been selected from hundreds of applicants to develop new work at The Exchange's Orchard Project. The Orchard Project (Ari Edelson, Artistic Director, Dean Strober, Executive Director) runs now through June 29, 2013 in New York's Catskill Mountain Preserve. (more...)

Kait Kerrigan, Joe Iconis and More Set for Rhinebeck Writers Retreat by BWW News Desk - May 23, 2013
Kathy Evans, Founder and Executive Director, announced the nine musicals and eighteen writers selected for the third summer of the Rhinebeck Writers Retreat. For nine consecutive weeks beginning June 23rd, each writing team will have an individual weeklong residency in Rhinebeck, New York to write their musical. All costs are fully funded by donors including The ASCAP Foundation, The Dramatists Guild Fund, and The Noel Coward Foundation. Writers include Tony-winners and nominees Duncan Sheik (Spring Awakening), and Heidi Rodewald and Stew (Passing Strange), and multi-award winners Adam Gwon, Laura Harrington, Joe Iconis, Kait Kerrigan, and Brian Lowdermilk. BWW Reviews: Yellow Sound Label's KERRIGAN-LOWDERMILK LIVE is an Exceedingly Fun and Charming Album by David Clarke - May 23, 2013
Magical things really can happen when Broadway talents converge, as is proven on Kait Kerrigan and Brian Lowdermilk's sophomore album KERRIGAN-LOWDERMILK LIVE. The album exists because the duo raised an impressive and record-breaking $35,000 in their debut album's Kickstarter campaign. With the extra $25,000 they funded a concert tour, 2011's 'You Made This Tour,' and a live album, KERRIGAN-LOWDERMILK LIVE. As a singer-songwriter duo that also writes for theatre, there is a prominent and fascinating indie vibe that inhabits every track. As Kait Kerrigan states on one of the tracks, there is simply no denying that this album fabulously showcases talents are the 'future of theater and music in general.' (more...)

Join Midtown Direct Rep in developing new and innovative American theatre. Following on the heels of MDR's successful development of Rated P (for parenthood) which all the way to Off-Broadway, MDR's new program, 'Midtown Direct Rep in the Loft,' aims to do the same for other previously unseen material. MDR will now be presenting monthly readings or workshops of new plays and musicals one Today night a month at 7PM in the SOPAC loft. With a cash bar and post show discussions with our casts and creative teams, MDR will foster a fun and collaborative environment to nurture the development of top notch theatre right here at home.
