MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET Opens 4/9 in Austin

The international Tony Award Winning musical, MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET is set on December 4, 1956, when an auspicious twist of fate brought Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins and Elvis Presley together. Sam Phillips, the "Father of Rock 'n' Roll" who was responsible for launching the careers of each icon, brought the four legendary musicians together at the Sun Records storefront studio in Memphis for the first and only time. The resulting evening became known as one of the greatest rock 'n' roll jam sessions in history. (more...)

Tony Award-winning producer Junkyard Dog Productions (Memphis) has just announced FIRST DATE, Broadway's new musical comedy, has set the date to open at The Longacre Theatre (220 West 48th Street), Sunday, August 4, 2013. With a book by Austin Winsberg (“Gossip Girl”), music and lyrics by Alan Zachary and Michael Weiner (Secondhand Lions, Twice Charmed), choreographed by Josh Rhodes (Rodgers & Hammerstein's Cinderella) and directed by Bill Berry (Producing Director of The 5th Avenue Theatre), FIRST DATE begins performances Tuesday, July 9, 2013. El Alliance Theatre acaba de anunciar los nombres del reparto y el equipo creativo del estreno americano de 'Zorro, un emocionante nuevo musical' el proximo 10 de abril. El Zorro es un personaje creado en 1919 por el escrito Johnston McCulley para la serie de novelas 'La Maldicion de Capistrano, y fue inmortalizado en comic, en el cine, en television y recientemente en videojuegos. OSF Opens 2013 Season on February 22

The Tony Award-winning Oregon Shakespeare Festival's 2013 preview performances begin February 15, and the season will open Friday night, February 22 with Shakespeare's The Taming of the Shrew, directed by David Ivers. On Saturday, August Wilson's Two Trains Running, directed by Lou Bellamy, takes the stage, as does Lerner and Loewe's classic American musical My Fair Lady, directed by Amanda Dehnert. Sunday afternoon in the Thomas Theatre, Shakespeare's King Lear opens, directed by OSF Artistic Director Bill Rauch. (more...)
