Theatre Bench in association with Soho Theatre and Ros Povey present the World Premiere of new musical LIFT, which will run in the Main House at Soho Theatre now through Sunday 24 February 2013. The show stars Julie Atherton as 'French Teacher', Nikki Davis-Jones as 'Secretary', Cynthia Erivo as 'Lap Dancer', Jonny Fines as 'Ballet Dancer', Luke Kempner as 'Bright Young Thing', Ellie Kirk as 'Athletic and Wearing a Thong', George Maguire as 'Busker' and Robbie Towns as 'Tall, Dark and Handsome'. Winter Miller and Lance Horne's AMANDINE Makes World Premiere at Cherry Lane Theatre, Jan 8-26

Amandine, ten years in the making, is a collaboration between three of New York City's most distinctive theater artists: Winter Miller, 13P founding member who penned In Darfur (The Public Theater), among other acclaimed plays; Lance Horne, Emmy Award-winning composer and pianist known for his own work and collaborations with Alan Cumming, Amanda Palmer, Meow Meow, Sandra Bernhard and Justin Vivian Bond; and Drama Desk Award- winning director Josh Hecht (Christine Jorgensen Reveals), who specializes in new plays. Amandine is a singular love story, inspired by the incredible memoirs of Herculine Barbin, a 19th century intersex person who was raised a girl and died a man. The ensemble cast includes Broadway veterans Lea DeLaria, Nathan Lee Graham and Alexandra Silber, in a world premiere at the Cherry Lane Theatre (38 Commerce Street) main stage January 8-26, 2013. The Creation Of LIFT: A New Musical

Writing this blog about how we wrote LIFT is becoming more difficult than writing the show itself. The challenge has been trying to explain what the show is about. LIFT doesn't have a clear 'boy meets girl' plot. It's about emotions and how strange we are as human beings I suppose, and how the LIFT - the setting for the show - becomes a metaphor for the unspoken feelings the characters keep locked inside. Photo Flash: OUR HOUSE 10th Anniversary Concert After Party!

Suggs and Madness saxophonist Lee Thompson led the sell-out audience at the 10th anniversary charity gala performance of OUR HOUSE in an impromptu singalong of their greatest hits last night. It brought the curtain down at the Savoy Theatre on a night that saw many original cast members both in the production and on stage in the show in a fundraiser for the Help for Heroes Charity. Sister Act is a musical production based on the hugely popular 1992 film starring Whoopi Goldberg, who is also a producer on the show. Having had a massively successful run in the West End, regional audiences have been treated to this production for the past year or so now and Birmingham Hippodrome marks it's final venue on this outing.
