Oscar nominee Jacki Weaver (Animal Kingdom - 2011 and Silver Linings Playbook - 2013) and Julian Sands have been added to the cast of Six Dance Lessons in Six Weeks, the feature film based on Richard Alfieri's international hit play of the same name. Irish Repertory Theatre celebrates its award-winning 25th Anniversary Season with SOMETHING WONDERFUL! THE SONGS OF RODGERS & HAMMERSTEIN, an evening celebrating classic Rodgers and Hammerstein hits performed by a galaxy of Broadway stars, for one night only, Monday, June 10 at Broadway's Broadhurst Theatre (235 West 44th Street). Shirley Jones, best known for her roles in 'Oklahoma!' and 'Carousel,' returns to Broadway in the gala evening, directed by Charlotte Moore and hosted by Tom Hanks. (more...)

Steppenwolf Theatre Company ensemble member Austin Pendleton directs The Birthday Party by Harold Pinter in the Upstairs Theatre, at the helm of a Pinter play for the first time. The theater has been newly reconfigured by Pendleton with scenic designer Walt Spangler to bring the audience closer to the story by moving the stage to the center of the room. The Birthday Party begins previews January 24 (Opening night is February 3, 2013; Press performances are February 2 at 3pm and February 5 at 7:30pm) and runs through April 28 in Steppenwolf's Upstairs Theatre (1650 N Halsted St). In conjunction with The Birthday Party, Steppenwolf is proud to announce a one-night only performance of A Celebration of Harold Pinter, performed by British actor Julian Sands, directed by ensemble member John Malkovich. In conjunction with The Birthday Party, Steppenwolf Theatre Company presents a one-night only performance of A Celebration of Harold Pinter, performed by British actor Julian Sands, directed by ensemble member John Malkovich. With personal anecdotes and reflections drawn from his work with Pinter, Sands combines Pinter's poems and prose to create a fresh and intimate insight into the Nobel laureate's literary legacy. A Celebration of Harold Pinter is tonight, February 10 at 7:30pm in the Downstairs Theatre (1650 N Halsted St). Tickets ($25) are on sale now. (more...)

The international smash hit comedy where outrageous and true celebrity memoirs are acted out live on stage by some of the funniest people in entertainment, Celebrity Autobiography is an evening of jaw-dropping, hard-to-believe vignettes excerpted straight from actual celebrity tell-alls: from the 'he-said, she-said' accounts of Burt and Loni; signature mash-ups that combine the "Mom"oirs of famous moms such as Ivana Trump, Kathie Lee Gifford and Kris Jenner; a music memoir segment combining the words of Bieber, Beyonce and beyond; a Sports Match Up with Arnold, Tiger, and Namath; Cher, Streisand, Dolly and Celine Dion all expressing their passion for food; LL Cool J, Miley Cyrus, and Ricky Martin addressing who they 'really are;" to a hilarious ensemble "playlet" edited together from the memoirs of the most famous love triangle in Hollywood history-Elizabeth Taylor, Debbie Reynolds, and Eddie Fisher.
