BWW Review: THE BAND'S VISIT is an Occasion Not to be Missed
by Evan Henerson - Dec 5, 2021

Based on a 2007 movie and a premise that you wish actually happened (even though it didn’t), the musical, directed by David Cromer, is a gentle ode to open minds, tolerance, wrong turns and – sure – faith.

BWW Review: THE BAND'S VISIT at Dolby Theatre
by Cary Ginell - Dec 4, 2021

See what our critic thought of the national tour of 'The Band's Visit' - an inspiring musical about the healing power of music and its ability to show common ground between two historically opposing cultures. The show stars Janet Dacal as the vulnerable cafe owner Dina and Sasson Gabay as Tewfiq, the orchestra leader who has been traumatized by a past tragedy.

BWW Review: THE BAND'S VISIT at Shea's Buffalo
by Michael Rabice - Nov 3, 2021

A visiting Egyptian band loses their way and a small town is forever changed. It seems that THE BAND'S VISIT is the TONY Award winning musical that no one has heard of. But that changed last night when the luminous National tour opened at Shea's Buffalo Theatre. It was evident that most audience members had no idea what they were in for when the lights dimmed and the hour and four five minute, intermissionless production cast it's spell.

BWW Review: THE BAND'S VISIT Brings Broadway Back to Nashville's Tennessee Performing Arts Center
by Jeffrey Ellis - Oct 20, 2021

I’m happy to admit that while I am indeed euphoric, I remain clear-eyed in the knowledge that this particular cultural offering is unique in its storytelling and in the characters who will live for years to come until the very last person who remembers experiencing the exhilaration of the return of live Broadway theater to Nashville speaks their names for the last time.

BWW Review: THE BAND'S VISIT at Des Moines Performing Arts
by DC Felton - Oct 16, 2021

When the national tour of 'Anastasia' closed on March 1 at Des Moines Performing Arts, no one could have imagined it would be 19 months before another national tour of a Broadway show would hit the stage again at the Civic Center. 19 months. Who would have thought an intermission could last that long? On Tuesday, October 12, the stage was filled again with all the entrancing pieces that go into making a Broadway show when the national tour of 'The Band's Visit, which plays through October 17, 2021, opened.

BWW Review: THE BAND'S VISIT National Tour
by Nicole Ackman - Oct 6, 2021

THE BAND’S VISIT is an incredibly gentle, but very human musical about a band of Egyptian musicians who end up stranded in a small Israeli town. It’s a show about unlikely connections as we see the Arab musicians bond with those in the small town.

BWW Review: LES MISERABLES National Tour, DPAC
by Nicole Ackman - Mar 11, 2020

Sometimes, I worry when seeing LES MISERABLES yet another time that it won't ignite the same spark within me. And yet, without fail, this musical reminds me not just why I love theatre, but also of so many truths about humanity. It's a multi-layered story, difficult to simmer down to a concise summary.

BWW Review: LES MISERABLES is Victorious at Aronoff Center
by Anne Simendinger - Feb 14, 2020

Almost every season there is a classic, crowd-pleasing favorite where the audience sighs with relief and nostalgia at the first measure the orchestra plays. this was most definitely the case with LES MISERABLES, running through Feb. 23 at the Aronoff Center. The sigh, however, does not come without reason. Shows like Les Misérables feel like a warm hug or coming home for a theatre patron, but this company is breathing new life into the old classic.
