Lindsay Shaw, best known for playing Jennifer Ann 'Moze' Mosely on the Nickelodeon series Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide and as Paige McCullers on the ABC Family hit drama Pretty Little Liars and Chad Allen came to see SILENCE! One is accustomed to the overwhelming cult following of The Rocky Horror Picture Show, where fans at midnight screenings dress in character and talk back to the screen. But who would have thought that an Academy Award-winning film like The Silence of the Lambs, whose overall tone is intensely serious and realistically creepy, would hold up equally well in the form of a spoof? And to which audiences would respond in howl-a-minute frankness and style? Well, it has surely happened with the award-winning Silence! The Musical, now in its Los Angeles debut at the Hayworth Theatre. But a few words of warning: really know the movie The Silence of the Lambs inside out, and if you haven't seen it in a while, rent it and watch it right before the stage show! (more...)

ONCE & TRIBES Lead Lortel Nominations; Full List Inside! by BWW Special Coverage - Mar 29, 2012
Nominations in 14 categories were announced today by the Off-Broadway League for the 2012 Lucille Lortel Awards for Outstanding Achievement Off-Broadway. This year's ceremony will once again benefit The Actors Fund. The Lortel Awards will be handed out on Sunday, May 6, 2012 at NYU Skirball Center beginning at 7:00pm EST.

On June 27th Toronto celebrated the 32nd Annual Dora Mavor Moore Awards which honour excellence in Canada theatre. BWW was on hand for the complete event, including the VIP reception where nominees mingled with sponsors and patrons, the award show itself and of course, the happening after-party which shut down Front St for most of the night. The Musical, the unauthorized parody of The Silence of the Lambs, with music & lyrics by Jon and Al Kaplan, book by Hunter Bell, and direction and choreography by Christopher Gattelli. SILENCE! The Musical has officially opened at Theatre 80, located at 80 St. Marks Place (between First & Second Ave.) Also featured in the cast of SILENCE! The Musical are Callan Bergmann, Stephen Bienskie, Harry Bouvy, Ashlee Dupré, Deidre Goodwin, Jeff Hiller, Howard Kaye, and Lucia Spina.
