Anne Hathaway to Star in New Rock Indie

According to Showbiz411, the actress has signed on to star in Kate Barker-Froyland's SongOne, an independent film focused on an up-and-coming rock singer, played by Irish musician Johnny Flynn). Hathway will take on role of Flynn's girlfriend - though the site confirms that she will not perform any songs in film, which is said to be in the vein of ONCE. (more...)

Tim Carroll's critically-acclaimed sell-out productions of Twelfth Night and Richard III, which recouped within a few weeks of opening in the West End, will complete their run at the Apollo Theatre on 10 February as scheduled. OLIVIERS 2012: Full List Of Nominations! MATILDA Leads with 10!

Matilda the Musical, produced by the RSC and running at the Cambridge Theatre, leads the way with ten nominations - the maximum number of eligible awards for a musical this year. These notably include a collective nomination for Best Actress for all four young actresses who play the title role. Amongst other musical theatre productions Ghost The Musical at the Piccadilly Theatre and the National Theatre's London Road have five and four nominations respectively.

Shakespeare's Globe recently announced its upcoming 2012 season, which will include multi award-winning actor Mark Rylance to perform the title role of a new production of Richard III and a reprisal of his widely celebrated performance of Olivia in Twelfth Night, also starring Johnny Flynn. According to Whatsonstage, both productions could be aiming for West End transfers as early as Fall 2012. (more...)
