MALIBU PLAYHOUSE will open its 2013-2014 season with the West Coast Premiere of The Dream of the Burning Boy by David West Read tonight, September 6th. The play will be directed by Edward Edwards, and stars Broadway veteran Jeffrey Hayenga and Tyler Ritter, the youngest son of the late John Ritter.

Last month marked the 150th Anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg, one of the decisive battles of the Civil War. The anniversaries of the Battles of Chickamauga and Chattanooga, and the sesquicentennial of Lincoln's Gettysburg address take place over the next few months. Rubicon Theatre Company commemorates these historic events with the presentation of ROBERT E. LEE - SHADES OF GRAY, a compelling and dramatic portrait of one of U.S. history's most enigmatic figures. The Museum of Arts and Design presents the first American retrospective of New Queer Cinema cult auteur Gregg Araki this fall from September 19 through October 26.God Help Me: Gregg Araki will survey the director's career thus far, with 9 films selected by Araki himself, including his rare early workThree Bewildered People in the Night (1987), the never-aired MTV pilot This is How the World Ends (2000) and the complete Teenage Apocalypse trilogy. MAD will also host a rare master class with the director on September 28.

As the commemoration of the sesquicentennial of the Civil War continues, 2013 is especially important to the historic town of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania as this July marks 150 years since the Battle of Gettysburg, often considered the turning point in the Civil War. In recognition of the place Gettysburg holds in history, Totem Pole Playhouse is partnering with Gettysburg College's Majestic Theater in a special co-production of the acclaimed one-act drama, The Road from Appomattox on the stage of the Majestic from tonight, July 10 through July 21.

The impact of Patsy Cline's story and music, the last of which was recorded a half-century ago, was seen when Totem Pole Playhouse was casting musicians for its production of A Closer Walk with Patsy Cline, running tonight, June 11 through 23.
