Most of all, perhaps, is the sense of the theater as a helter-skelter, seat-of-the-pants, totally precarious enterprise, in which people start out to cast or produce a show with no idea how it's going to be completed, without necessarily even a script, and in which the way to make the final product viable, let alone successful, is, as the script keeps saying, a mystery.

A CHRISTMAS CAROL as adapted by Patrick Barlow and presented by Delaware Theatre Company is anything but the same old show.

Very few directors will stick with a singular playwright for a majority of their career, but that is not the case for David Staller. Staller has worked on all 65 of George Bernard Shaw's plays and he isn't stopping yet. TACT NYC and the Gingold Theatrical Group are happy to present Shaw's very first play- WIDOWERS' HOUSES.

TACT and GINGOLD THEATRICAL GROUP have announced full casting for WIDOWERS' HOUSES, the first play ever written by George Bernard Shaw. Directed by David Staller, WIDOWERS' HOUSES will begin performances on Tuesday, March 1, and open Sunday, March 13 at The Beckett Theatre @ Theatre Row (410 W. 42nd Street, New York, NY 10036).

TACT/The Actors Company Theatre presents the Off Broadway premiere of HARD LOVE, the searing 2003 play by Israeli playwright Motti Lerner. This first play of the 2015/16 season -- the company's 23rd -- is directed by TACT Artistic & Executive Director Scott Alan Evans, who most recently directed Beyond Therapy by Christopher Durang. The show is currently playing at Theatre Row's Beckett Theatre. The play celebrated its opening last night, October 11th, and performances continue through October 31, 2015. I want to express the deepest gratitude to the director, Igor Goldin, for not directing his actors into a corner with this show. Each and every person onstage had a story to tell, and not just some façade to put on: a worry I typically have when viewing a comedic musical. Even each member of the ensemble had fantastic individuality and characterization that it makes one wonder whether an ensemble needs to necessarily “blend together” – which, in fact, is quite difficult not to do when the show decks out its actors in outrageous costumes that make Betsy Johnson and Alexander McQueen look (I won't be forgetting you, anytime soon, Sausage Dress…). Though, it's the joint effort between the lead players and supporting players that create magic on that stage, and this cast did just that.
