Following the hugely successful production of Michael Morpurgo's The Butterfly Lion, The Barn Theatre has announced a new collaboration with Morpurgo, which will see Tony© and Olivier winner John Caird direct Vicki Berwick's new adaptation of The Mozart Question. The production will open at The Barn in May 2020, following which it will transfer to the Everyman Theatre, Cheltenham. It will then embark on a UK tour.

According to Deadline, Tony-winning playwright John Logan has signed on to write the screenplay for a new film about the life of Michael Jackson. Logan, who is currently represented on Broadway with Moulin Rouge, joins Bohemian Rhapsody producer Graham King for the project.

Cleveland native Michael Cavanaugh, announced his hometown performance that is set to take place at the Mimi Ohio Theatre at Playhouse Square on January 10, 2020. During the concert, the Cleveland community will quickly understand why Reuters named Cavanaugh Entertainer of the year. He is set to perform the greatest hits of Sir Elton John and Billy Joel including Piano Man, Movin' Out, Crocodile Rock, Tiny Dancer, Rocket Man, Benny and the Jets, and more.

UnsungMusicalsCo. (Ben West, Artistic Director) closes out its 2019 season with a benefit concert of The Passing Show of 2019, a new musical revue celebrating and satirizing the social and cultural happenings of the past year featuring sketches and songs written by college students and emerging writers. In 1970, John-Michael Tebelak's master's thesis, Godspell, was first performed at Carnegie Mellon. Then in 1971, after a run at La MaMa Experimental Theatre Club, Stephen Schwartz was hired to re-score the show before being produced off-Broadway. Godspell, which is primarily based on parables from the Gospel of Matthew (with a few from the Gospel of Luke and one from John), has had several revivals and numerous tours. Audiences can enjoy a unique interpretation of Godspell at Prima opening April 5th. To find out more about this upcoming production, I spoke with director J. This season's new Broadway production of William Shakespeare's King Lear, starring two-time Academy Award winner, two-time Emmy Award winner, and 2018 Tony Award winner Glenda Jackson and directed by Tony Award winner Sam Gold, will begin previews Thursday, February 28, 2019 and will open Thursday, April 4, 2019 at the Cort Theatre. The production will play a strictly limited engagement through Sunday, July 7, 2019.

Stephen Schwartz has signed a worldwide publishing agreement with Warner/Chappell Music (WCM), the music publishing arm of Warner Music Group. The composer of hit musicals Godspell, Pippin, and Wicked, Schwartz is the recipient of three Academy Awards, four Grammy Awards, and the Isabelle Stevenson Tony Award.
