The International Beethoven Project Presents Christopher O'Riley, 5/13 by BWW News Desk - Apr 30, 2013
The International Beethoven Project presents renowned pianist Christopher O'Riley in Chicago one night only on Monday, May 13 at 7:30 p.m. at Merit School of Music's Joy Faith Knapp Music Center, 38 S. Peoria St. in the West Loop. Popularly known for his groundbreaking transcriptions of Radiohead, Elliott Smith, Nick Drake and other rock musicians, O'Riley returns to Chicago with a very different repertoire: virtuosic selections from his new album of iconic Franz Liszt transcriptions, O'Riley's Liszt. O'Riley delves into the works of that master interpreter, adding his own touches and insight to the music of Mozart, Wagner, Berlioz, Schubert and Schumann. Tickets for the May 13 concert are $15 for general admission and $50 for VIP priority seating that includes an exclusive post-concert reception with O'Riley. Tobin Center for the Performing Arts Names Michael Fresher as President/CEO by BWW News Desk - Apr 30, 2013
Michael J. Fresher has been named President and Chief Executive Officer of the Tobin Center for the Performing Arts (www.tobincenter.org), which is owned and will be operated by the Bexar County Performing Arts Center Foundation. He will assume his new position in San Antonio on May 21. Foundation Chairman J. Bruce Bugg Jr. made the announcement. (more...)

World-renowned guitarist John McLaughlin, announces his first U.S. tour in three years, set for this June. The tour will begin June 11th in Durham, NC and will hit Asheville, DC, Bethlehem, Boston and a 3-night stand in New York City at the Blue Note before ending in Toronto on June 23rd. McLaughlin and his legendary 4th Dimension band will also make a special appearance at this year's Bonnaroo Festival in Manchester, Tennessee on June 14th. (more...)
