Shakespeare Guild to Welcome Authors Paul Dickson, Thomas Keith and Susannah Carson, Spring 2013

After memorable conversations with such fascinating guests as the New Yorker's John Lahr (September 17), Hunter College's IRENE DASH (October 22), the McCarter Theatre's NAGLE JACKSON (November 19), Columbia University's JAMES SHAPIRO (December 17), and The Lion King's JULIE TAYMOR (January 28), The Shakespeare Guild now looks forward to evenings in Manhattan's National Arts Club that will focus on three engaging authors: PAUL DICKSON, THOMAS KEITH, and SUSANNAH CARSON. These events will be followed in May by a fourth gathering that will take us to another venerable institution, The Players, and place the spotlight on EVERETT RAYMOND KINSTLER, a celebrity portrait painter who has been compared to the legendary John Singer Sargent. Playwrights Horizons Announces Final Extension for THE WHALE, Through 12/15

Due to popular demand, Playwrights Horizons (Tim Sanford, Artistic Director; Leslie Marcus, Managing Director) has announced a second, final extension of its critically-acclaimed, sold-out New York premiere of THE WHALE, a new play by Obie Award winner Samuel D. Hunter (A Bright New Boise). Originally set to play a limited engagement through Sunday, December 2, the production originally extended to Sunday, December 9 and now extends to Saturday, December 15 at Playwrights Horizons' Peter Jay Sharp Theater (416 West 42nd Street). This additional week represents the final extension possible for the production. (more...)

Founded in 1979 by its artistic director Jeffrey Horowitz, Theatre for a New Audience is a modern classical theatre that produces Shakespeare alongside other major authors in a dialogue that spans centuries. Its 33rd season, the last before moving to its first home adjacent to BAM in the new Downtown Brooklyn Cultural District, features boldly diverse works from William Shakespeare, Franz Kafka in a theatrical adaptation by Colin Teevan, Samuel Beckett and Wallace Shawn. In a co-production with The Public Theater, Mr. Shawn's plays will be part of The Wallace Shaw-Andre Gregory Project. (more...)
