To raise the final funds needed for their fall productions of Claire and Paul Sifton's 1931- (The Living Theatre, Oct 4-21) and Dawn Powell's Big Night (Shetler Studios, Nov 28th-Dec 3rd), the ReGroup Theatre is receiving a 2.5 hr tutored wine tasting event thrown by the Moore Brother Wine Company on Sept 5th, 2012. The event will be held at the Moore Brothers, 33 E 20th St, NYC from 6-8:30. On Monday, August 6th, 2012, at 7 PM, ReGroup Theatre presents the first fully-staged public reading of Nellise Child's 'bitter comedy' WEEP FOR THE VIRGINS in 77 years. The reading celebrates the first-ever publication of the play, along with the first publication of Robert Ardrey's Casey Jones and Mr. Ardrey's classic Group play Thunder Rock. Weep for the Virgins will be performed one night only by the ReGroup on The Irish Rep's Mainstage. Get a first look at the production in the photos below!

The Orange County Playwrights Alliance will bring four new one-act plays to the beautiful ocean-view Newport Theatre Arts Center on Sunday, July 8. These four staged readings of plays center on people revealing or realizing their true selves - either in front of each other, or in front of us. Playwrights Lorin Howard, John Lane, Joni Ravenna and Jordan R. Young have been produced accross America.

In Thunder Rock, successful author and former Daily News reporter David Charleston becomes disturbed by the state of the world; he takes a job as a lighthouse keeper and the sole resident of Thunder Rock Island. When he notices a memorial plaque dedicated to a sailing ship of immigrants which fatally crashed on the island 90 years prior, he starts to imagine how ideal life was in their time. Soon, they begin appearing to him. At first he controls them, until they decide to teach him about the eternal struggles of life.

The ReGroup first full season of productions will present a production of Robert Ardrey's THUNDER ROCK, followed by Claire & Paul Sifton's 1931-, and Dawn Powell's BIG NIGHT in November. Besides these productions, The ReGroup will publish the 2ndvolume in their series of Group Theatre plays and present a staged-reading of Nellise Child's WEEP FOR THE VIRGINS over the summer.

The Pasadena Playhouse (Sheldon Epps, Artistic Director and Charles Dillingham, interim Executive Director) announced that the opening night celebration for LINCOLN - AN AMERICAN STORY will also honor Playhouse Board Member Lilah Stangeland and her late husband Roger Stangeland with a portrait unveiling at The Pasadena Playhouse Makineni Library. The portrait was commissioned by artist Kenton Nelson and painted by emerging local artist Liz Walworth. The ceremony will take place at 7:00 p.m., prior to the opening night performance of LINCOLN - AN AMERICAN STORY on Wednesday, March 28, 2012.

Two-time Tony Award nominee Howard McGillin has joined the cast of the upcoming new musical REBECCA, based on the classic novel by Daphne du Maurier novel, opening on Broadway Sunday, April 22 at The Broadhurst Theatre (235 West 44th Street). Previews will begin Tuesday, March 27. McGillin will play the role of Frank Crawley, replacing previously announced John Dossett (who will appear in another show this season). McGillin joins Sierra Boggess ("I"), Tam Mutu (Maxim deWinter), Karen Mason (Mrs. Danvers), James Barbour (Jack Favell), Donna English (Beatrice de Winter), Nick Wyman (Giles) and Henry Stram (Ben).

The William & Eva Fox Foundation and Theatre Communications Group (TCG), the national organization for theatre, are pleased to announce the sixth round of Fox Foundation Resident Actor Fellowship recipients. The program is designed to support actors' professional and artistic development, to enrich relationships between actors and nonprofit theatres and to ensure continued professional commitment to live theatre. Funded by the Fox Foundation and administered by TCG, the fellowship is one of only a few programs of its kind for actors in the country.
