Showtime's HOMELAND Among Winners of 71st Annual Peabody Awards

Thirty-eight recipients of the 71st Annual Peabody Awards were announced today by the University of Georgias Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication. The winners, chosen by the Peabody board as the best in electronic media for the year 2011, were named in a ceremony in the Peabody Gallery on the University of Georgia Campus. ( more...)

Northern Stage (formerly Newcastle Playhouse) and Sheffield Theatres today announce their first collaboration, a new production of Edward Albees Whos Afraid of Virginia Woolf?. The production will be directed by Northern Stages Artistic Director Erica Whyman. Whos Afraid of Virginia Woolf? will play at Sheffields Crucible Theatre (Wednesday 16 March Thursday 7 April) and then continue to Northern Stage (Tuesday 12 April Saturday 30 April). ( more...)

Shadowland Theatre's Founding Cooperative Artists Group Holds 25th Anniversary Reunion 7/3

More than 25 years after defying long odds, harsh wintry conditions, scant supplies of food and little money to invest, members of the Cooperative Artists, the group that established professional theater at a then-closed 1920s Art Deco movie house in the old Borscht Belt region of the Lower Catskill Mountains are returning for a July 4th weekend reunion celebration at Shadowland Theatre, the Actors' Equity theater in downtown Ellenville, NY, 90 miles northwest of Broadway. Due to the forecast winter storm the Johns Hopkins University Theatre has canceled their weekend performances of John Guare's The House of Blue Leaves at theHomewood campus Merrick Barn. There are four performances scheduled for next Thursday-Saturday, 2/11-13, at 8pm and Sunday, 2/14, at 2pm. London's THE 39 STEPS Welcomes New Cast 7/13

A new cast has been announced for Patrick Barlow's adaptation of The 39 Steps, directed by Maria Aitken, currently in its third year at the Criterion Theatre. The new cast will feature John Hopkins as Richard Hannay. Other cast members include Stephen Critchlow, Stephen Ventura, and Natalie Walter. The new cast members of the hilarious 100-minute whodunnit begin July 13. ( more...)
