The Weinstein Company has just unveiled the first theatrical trailer for the upcoming documentary investigating the life of the notoriously reclusive author J.D. Salinger. Shane Salerno directed the film, who most recently co-wrote and executive produced Oliver Stone's SAVAGES. Salerno also produced the documentary along with Buddy Squires and Deborah Randall. Image Entertainment Aquires LAST LOVE with Michael Caine

Image Entertainment, an RLJ Entertainment (NASDAQ: RLJE) brand, has acquired all U.S. rights to the romantic drama Last Love, based on Francoise Dorner's French novel La Douceur Assassine. Starring Oscar winner Michael Caine (The Dark Knight Rises, Inception), who recently signed on to star in Interstellar his 6th Christopher Nolan film, Last Love is written and directed by Sandra Nettelbeck, and co-stars Clemence Poesy (In Bruges, 127 Hours), Justin Kirk (Goats, Showtime's 'Weeds'), Gillian Anderson (The X Files) and Jane Alexander (Dream House, Terminator Salvation). CONFIRMED: The Weinstein Company Acquires J.D. Salinger Doc

The Weinstein Company (TWC) officially announced today their acquisition of worldwide distribution rights to the long-anticipated feature length documentary SALINGER. The film, a biography of notoriously reclusive author J.D. Salinger, is directed by Shane Salerno, who most recently co-wrote and executive produced Oliver Stone's SAVAGES. Salerno also produced the documentary along with Buddy Squires and Deborah Randall. TWC executives closed the deal on the film immediately after they screened it the morning before the Academy Awards. The company plans to show SALINGER in a number of film festivals prior to its theatrical release September 6th limited followed by an extensive rollout plan. (more...)
