Emily Frankel Releases Six Romantic Fiction Works, Launches New Website
by BWW News Desk - May 10, 2012

Once celebrated as a modern dancer, who dazzled audiences at New YorkÂ’s Lincoln Center with a 70-minute, virtuoso performance of Mahler's "Fifth Symphony," Emily Frankel continues to explore new life arenas and reinvent herself. On stage and off -- as a dancer, choreographer, director, playwright (seven plays), and the writer of the provocative daily blog, EmÂ’s Talkery (www.emtalkery.blogspot.com) -- Emily Frankel has known success. And now, as a novelist, she's fired a shot across the bow of the romantic novel genre with the publication of six dramatic, romantic, suspenseful works of fiction: "Circle of Ivy," "Heart City," "Karen of Troy," "Splintered Heart, "Three Miles East of Rose," and "Somebody: Woman of the Century." Richard Nash, lyrics by Tom Jones, and music by Harvey Schmidt. Based on Nash's 1954 play The Rainmaker, it focuses on Lizzie Curry, a spinster living on a ranch in the American southwest, and her relationships with local sheriff File, a cautious divorcé who fears being hurt again, and charismatic con man Bill Starbuck, posing as a rainmaker who promises the locals he can bring relief to the drought-stricken area. The revival cast featured Audra McDonald as Lizzi and John Cullum as H.C. Curry. (more...)

Nominee Reactions: Danny Burstein '6am in LA but Damn Good!'
by BWW - May 01, 2012

"I feel pretty damn good! I'm exhausted because it's six in the morning here in LA, but it still feels pretty damn good! My phone started buzzing and I ran to my computer because I wasn't sure. People were texting me and saying 'I'm crossing my fingers to you' and stuff like that. So, I ran to my computer and because we're in this housing, first you have to enter your log in information and I couldn't get it to work. I'm like 'Why now?!" I finally got it to work and it was only after a friend sent me a text saying 'CONGRATULATIONS' that I thought 'Thank God!' I'm in tech right now so I'll spend the rest of the day in tech until midnight, but for this I'll do it!" (more...)
