Royal Court Theatre Productions and Ambassador Theatre Group's rewritten production of POSH opened last night at the Duke of York’s Theatre. Check out the photos below of the cast and creative team arriving at the show and its after-show party at The Gladstone Library. Audience members for the opening included Twiggy, John Barrowman, and Tamsin Grieg. Actress/singer Elaine Paige, having originated Evita, Chess, Piaf and Anything Goes in London, is unquestionably the queen of the West End, and with a Drama Desk nomination securely in place for her Broadway performance in the new Kennedy Center production of Stephen Sondheim's Follies, which opened at the Ahmanson May 9, Paige is fast becoming a theatrical sensation in the US as well. Nicholas Hytner's five star award-winning production of One Man, Two Guvnors is currently playing at the Theatre Royal Haymarket after two sell-out record-breaking runs at the National and Adelphi Theatres. Joining Owain Arthur as lovable chancer Francis Henshall are Jodie Prenger and Hannah Spearritt who play Dolly and Pauline respectively. Martin Barrass joins the cast to play Alfie with David Benson as Gareth, Nigel Betts as Harry, Derek Elroy as Lloyd, Gerard Horan as Charlie, Daniel Ings as Alan, Ben Mansfield as Stanley and Gemma Whelan as Rachel. Today we are talking to one of the busiest lyricists in show business, Glenn Slater, all about today’s movie theater showing of his collaboration with Andrew Lloyd Webber, LOVE NEVER DIES - a continuation of the world’s most successful show, THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA - and the spectacular Simon Phillips-directed Australian production of it filmed for the ages and presented in hundreds of movie theaters across the country, with an encore cinema showing on March 7 prior to its DVD/Blu-ray release in the Spring. Stage an screen star John Barrowman has recenty revealed that there are no plans fro him to make a return to 'Doctor Who,' Barrowman told Oh No They Didn't: "I can't believe it. I was only meant to be a five-episode character in Doctor Who and it's turned out to be a huge success in its own right with Torchwood and Captain Jack. The American audiences have taken to him. It's quite overwhelming and quite amazing to be a part of something like that to spread what I call the best of British television worldwide." (more...)

As previously announced, award winning West End star Daniel Boys will join the previously announced West End and Broadway singing sensation Kerry Ellis in the 40th anniversary concert version of Stephen Schwartz's smash-hit musical ‘Godspell'. In September, John releases his CD, The Best of John Barrowman, featuring songs from his previous albums, Another Side, Music Music Music and John Barrowman.
